I don’t understand how people can be mad at Acola for Steve but not Leo for Joker in early ultimate. Both characters were considered best in the game at one point

A couple of things: Joker was never universally considered the best in the same way Steve is. Lots of people thought Pikachu was better, some argued for Peach, some for ZSS etc. Even the people who thought Joker was the best never really tried to argue that he was really in a tier of his own (which Steve pretty clearly is imo). Most people (myself included) find Joker a lot more fun to watch than Steve And then it's basically impossible to argue that Leo was carried by Joker. He'd already won the biggest major up to that point with mainly Ike and Lucina and he'd become the best player in Smash 4 with mostly Marth and Meta Knight. Meanwhile Acola hasn't accomplished anything impressive without Steve so lots of people think he's carried to varying extents

Steve is overtuned but we are not in the Brawl Metaknight / S4 Bayo days. When most the top players have a Steve secondary and top 8's of majors are littered w Steve then I say we would be in trouble

It is very difficult to use Steve perfectly. But if you can use him perfectly, Steve will look like the strongest character. Acola is really good at using Steve. (similar to how no one can use Lucina like protobanham.) I am Japanese and I like to watch acola and proto play well.

I’m new to smash but watching Steve play is like watching a whole different game. You can literally block someone from recovering? You can build a house so you have the advantage when someone tries to come after you? Lmao what?😂

Yeah Steve comes from the videogame "Minecraft". It's about building things out of blocks, that you mine, and craft. When a character is put into Smash, they try to incorporate and implement elements and gimmicks from the original game the character is from. So like with Sonic turning into a ball and being really fast in his games, they made him do the same things in Smash. So with Steve they made him able to mine, build, and craft things just like he does in Minecraft. I think it's pretty cool how they do that, and almost like the point of Smash entirely. Hope I cleared some things up for you. Glad to have another Steve supporter, because I agree too, he's crazy cool!

Steve is op no question but to claim that Steve is so op that you immediately become #1 in the world is just stupid. The second best Steve player isn't even in the top 25. Instead of acknowledging that it's also an accomplishment for acola to win with Steve you'd rather cry about your favorite players losing. You are just pathetic

Every smash game has the best character and for Ultimate it's Steve. Feels like you need a degree to counter him, but those players we love that all commit to this game professionally are doing their best to counter steve. They don't lose to any steves, only the best, and as of now always Acola.

@@ShintaSmash while it's true that he's the only one winning I really don't think that make the whole Steve case better. Bayonetta was way too good but that didn't meant that the sub Top players could beat the Top players every time with the character. I think that Acola is the one who can actually pull out 99% of Steve potential and that's also why a lot of people complaining when they see him play. He's currently the only one who shows how good are the countless tools of Steve and he has way too many. He's not just the best character like Joker or Pikachu were, he's a character that need some serious nerfs.

​@@BryGuyJohnand how many other pros are carried by characters? ESAM with pikachu. Haven't seen Void as a threat since they nerfed puchu in one of the early patches. Scend tried to up his piranha plant game and while it's decent he's nowhere near his skill with Ness (not like he's doing anything with Ness either though tbh). I'd say Tweek and Leo are the only top pros who can confidently switch between 2-4 characters and still beat almost anyone else. If Steve was so easy and "plays half the game for you", there most definitely should be a bunch of top tournaments with nothing but Steve dittos from the semifinals on. Tldr: cope, stay mad, or learn the match up 😁
