I've always been really disappointed in Bill Murray's performance in this game, especially because you can tell that the rest of the returning cast, including Annie Potts and William Atherton, are having a blast. Hell, even Bill's fucking brother plays the mayor in this game and he's fantastic. (To be fair, Brian Doyle-Murray was already an accomplished voice actor by that point, and still does it a ton in addition to his numerous film and TV roles. I'd argue he's the better actor at this point in their lives.) Also worth noting that the original version of this game on the 360 had a really fun cooperative multiplayer mode.

I really liked this game and still do! I was a QA tester for this game and many more back in the X360, PS3, Wii era! 2 days before release I was still working overtime at night to verify all the major bugs fixes! The PS2 was the most difficult to code for the studio. 2 days before release the last boss still had a 15 min black loading screen. The "original" release version for xbox 360 could not be 100% completed if you were using hdmi! You can thank me and my desire to always do stuff differently for being able to do it on release day XD
@charlessalisbury92202 ай бұрын
Out of interest, what was the hdmi issue about? How did it stop you getting a certain achievement?
@DJMADD012 ай бұрын
@@charlessalisbury9220I have to apologize, my first "resumé" wasnt clear enough.I'll try and explain it in further details... It didnt just stop you from completing one achievement. You couldn't finish the normal single player campaign. You see, although HD had been very present at this point, it seems that nobody on the QA team or the studio had bothered to try and finish the game by HDMI. They all did through RCA and component. About two weeks before this game was set to release I was offered some weekend overtime to take a look at the final product, give my opinion on it while seeing if I can find anything wrong with the game but hey it was already a "finished" product so I shouldn't. We normally get an assign desk throughout the normal week but on the weekend and overtime, it was first arrive first serve. I got in the secured room first that morning and when I scanned around this room I never had access before, one monitor caught my attention. A brand new FULL HD Viewsonic 24" TV/Monitor among 40 standard gray pc monitor. "Heck yeah this one mine, I'm finally going to play in real HD for a change and enjoy the game as customer would" I thought to myself. I even had to ask the project manager for an HDMI cable cause like i said, nobody bothered to do it cause we usually used PC monitor with either VGA/RCA or component and usually recorded any bug via a RCA PC video capture card. I progressed normally through the games and when I get close to the end (I think the location is called central park cemetery or something like that) a mini-boss/big creature appeared in front of me and the game just freeze the frame and fatal crash there. Right away I'm surprise/confuse as this is suppose to be a finish product. I reboot and reload from last save and "bam" same thing happen. After doing it many times and confirming it's not an "isolate" or "one-time" crash, I decided to ask my co worker around if they were able to finish the game and I get confused look from everyone, especially people that had been testing this game for months. Nobody in the room has a clue on whats going on and there all very confused and I start to think for a few mins and i suddenly get this very weird ideas in my head : What if it was the HDMI cable ? I had never seen/heard of a situation like that before (or since) but it was the only different "variable" that i could spot in this situation and I was right. Maybe a true coder/programmer could explain what happenned but to this day I dont have a clue how which "video-out" you use on a console could make it fatally crash on a very specific spot. And voilà haha. Sorry for the long post.

I had the PS2 version as a kid years before I was able to play the HD version, not that I knew there was a different version of the game at the time of course. I consider both versions of the game to be some of my favorite ever now.

I still find it funny that the hotel stayed open after all of that chaos from the ghosts. And then the only reason they actually close down is because of an electrical fire, that the manager mentions later in the game. xD Also, it's funny if you catch Slimer without trashing the Bar Mitzvah (that badly), since the camera would pan across a pretty decent room while the manager complains that it's trashed.
