the first 5 minutes highlight very well to me what i feel like robin has been lacking in the later arcs, i feel like alot of what "robin's job" was taken over in the later parts of the series and to me consistency towards her perceptive / wary (specifically towards outside threats) pre timeskip character was sacrificed in order to make robin alot more laid back and "i trust my team with everything" sort of attitude with the addition of law and kinemon alot of the "smart talk" and thinking about how to make a plan was done by these characters when it used to be robin who brought down the knowledge and know hows on how to plan and handle things and maybe it's just me being wrong but i feel like we gradually gotten alot less context clues about her knowledge / sneaky usage of her devilfruit which sorta for me diminished the identity that robin was smart

The same happened with Sanji, he used to be the cunning agent of the crew that used clever tactics to mess with the enemy, but post timeskip he lost that role in profit of "just Zoro 2", Sanji was already strong pre TS but I feel like stripping him of this role and giving it to Law and Brook instead greatly detracted from his own character (but at least Sanji has gotten the beat character arc in the entire series post TS with Whole Cake and Wano so I won't complain, this portion of the story managed to have him take the number one spot from Robin in my heart, but still a shame he no longer uses his wits as he used to)

Oh yeah, Robin and Luffy definitely think a like. She is the only one on the crew who unders the enigma of Luffy's mind and how it works. You constantly see it, especially later on. On Punk Hazard she and Luffy have the exact same idea of tk how advance and cross the freezing lake, coupled with that adorable childlike mental image of it. She uses the same nicknames he does to refer to people, she can explain things to him that make sense to him. Perfect example, he can't remember who Marco the Phoenix is,and while everyone is telling him who is he in terms of titles and jobs, Robin just look at Luffy and goes "He's the pineapple🍍." And it immediately clicks for him. Also, when it comes to orders to do some crazy shit; she amd Zoro are in the same camp. 99% of the time, they do as as he asked, no questions asked. The only other person close to her and Zoro in that regard is Franky, and that tends to be because he was already doing that same crazy shit. Basically Robin mat be cast as the crew's mother by Oda, but honestly she feels more like Luffy's older sister at times.

I think, while Robin on screen doesn't kill anyone, its a little naive to say what Aokiji says about Robin is a lie. The easy answer as to why Robin doesn't kill on screen is that, Oda has decided she's going to be the next crew member, so showing her killing would make the idea of her joining the crew weird, just like how Zoro most definitely has killed people before joining Luffy, but afterwards we don't see him killing. Its very very hard for me to believe it was possible for Robin to survive as long as she has in the underworld without doing things that compromised her morals, like murder, and other things. Also, at no point does Robin actively lie to any of the crew members. The eternal log she gave them to nothing island was real, the fact she wont harm them w/o orders was also a fact. So when Robin tells Usopp she specializes in "assassinations", I think its correct to take her at her word that at some point she was assassinating people. To me, the whole character story of Robin is about how society can turn innocent people, into cold hard criminals, and Robin is prime example for that. She was made hard by society and turned into a criminal by circumstance, not by choice. EDIT: Put this in the wrong video lol

This build up is great. G8 and the Long Ring Lond Arc are some of the funniest filler arcs, but you really have me so hyped to check out your Water 7 and Ennes Lobby Video. Like this is brilliantly crafted, structured, and edited. Like you forget how many seeds Oda was building up Robin for the masterpiece of W7/EL arc. There were so many small things I forgot and never would've realized before this video. I feel like I could rant on an on. Bravo

Sooooo like how much time do we think Robin spent wishing she could pet Chopper in the begining? 😂 She had a whole cute attack from the dragon, and Choppers like the cutest person to walk their planet, even the Foxy pirates recognized that lol. I bet Robin was amused by their plan to steal gold from inside the snake lol. I really feel like they ran away for no reason lol, it was gold Nala ate, I doubt anyone else was going in there to get it, I doubt anyone even knew about it to begin with. Even if they got there and the city hadn't been stripped of the gold, the Straw Hats don't strike me as the type to take bits of the city with out exclusive permission. Not even Nami seems the type to break off something. I'm bummed we never get to see them struggle with that large pillar tho 😂, imagine going through the G8 arc with THAT thing weighing us down 😂 We'd need Enel to come back and heat it up so we can turn it into coins or something lol

Also rereading the manga from the start as I'm buying the manga volumes (Omnibus Editions to save money and space (essentially 3in1 volumes)) and just recently ordered the end of Skypiea and 3 of 4 for Water 7 and Enies Lobby bringing my total to 14 (or 42) volumes acquired. Currently there are only 32 Omnibus editions out for the total of 96 volumes with 33 set to release in 2024 according to the site I order from though they should be able to make it this year and even 34 since volume wise 104 are out and 105 set to release this year, but 34 would have 102 as the latest volume and 35 would come a bit after 105. But it is what it is. Once I have more money and space I might get the regular volumes and donate the omnibus editions to a library since the library in my town doesn't really have manga. Think there was 1 or 2 with 1 volume each.

the generation of us who grew up with and will continue growing with One Peace to its conclusion are privileged in our experience of the epic story Oda has created. Only we will be able to fully appreciate the adventure and mystery from its start to its conclusion because only we actually lived through it as it was occuring. When Oda finishes the story, which is getting very close, future generations will never be able to experience the adventure quite like us. They will have the full story available to them to watch or read from beginning to end, possibly spoiled by the internet or insatiable curiosity. They cannot ever grow up with the adventure, and live it as Oda wrote and drew it over the course of multiple decades of our collective lives. It's a shame really, this is modern day Odyssey and a historically significant piece of human art and literature that will likely never be topped anytime soon so, living it as it occurs is quite a unique and wonderful experience.

1:06:20 The anime might be more accurate here, as her saying "Luffy" is odd at this point in the story. The English translation is filled with mistranslations and things that don't even qualify as such, they just decide to change the line because. Another proof of mistranslations in this arc (not to mention the obvious religious censorship of refusing to translate Kami as God, and referring to his "Priests" as "Vassals" instead) comes with the "Endless Varse". In Japanese this is spelled in 2 different ways. We have kanji giving meaning to the words, and next to them we have furigana telling us the pronunciation (as kanji have several pronunciations available, if you want one in particular you clarify it with kana). The kanji say 限りない大地: "Limitless Land" (limitless and endless are NOT synonyms, something limitless can be finite, while something endless is infinite). The furigana next to those kanji say "フェアリー ヴァース": Fairy Varse/Vearth. Beyond the MASSIVE mistake of translating "limitless" as "endless", you cannot pick and choose what parts you translate. You either translate the kanji, and Enel is looking for the Limitless Land, or the kana, and he is looking for Fairy Vearth. It's impossible for it to be translated as "Endless Varse" or even "Limitless Varse" if the translator knows how to do their job.

2 things I'd like to point out: 1. More than calling Luffy by his name, what Robin did was namedropping Luffy. She didn't say "Luffy" but "Monkey D. Luffy" because of several connections that are revealed later 2. Her calling Luffy "Captain" is not a sign of respect, unless calling Nami "Navigator" or Chopper "Doctor" or Usopp "Long Nose" are signs of respect as well. She calls everyone in the crew by their roles (yes, Long Nose is Usopp's role), and that includes Luffy
