Thread to post. Many years ago a friend got promoted and I got him a pen that took quite a few turns to uncap and quite a few turns to post. When he queried why it took so much effort I explained that it was to give him time to ask any questions he suddenly thought he should ask for clarification before signing anything placed in front of him. He became a very deliberate uncapper and went on to have a very successful career.

Woo hoo! Another Pencast! Also, I know you said last time that a pen would be a lot, but before you did that, could you ever do a Goulet Line of inks? Like with your own custom bottles but maybe collaborate with Noodler’s, or Diamine, or some other company to make a line of custom colors. And I also want to say how happy I am to see someone else from the Goulet team! Of course Brian and Drew are fantastic, but when I heard that Write Now was ending, I was quite upset because I felt like seeing all the members of the Goulet team and talking about their pens and inks added to the whole “business can be personal”. Then when you had to call customer service or when you see who packed your order, you knew exactly who they were! Anyway, thank you for the wonderful video and I hope to see more of the Goulet Pen Co. team!

Thank you so much, Brian and Drew, for this lovely end to the working week and two very enjoyable hours on Friday evening. I completely fell in love with the "peanut" style cartoon. If it ever became available to buy as a postcard or sticker, I'd be all over it! For me, oblique nibs are not made for a specific hand position, but for a specific handwriting. Despite having, I think, a conventional pen posture ("normal" three-finger grip with the right hand), I write my cursive (also my print) quite obliquely, so that the vertical lines are rather at a 45 degree angle. By using a stub-nib, I hardly have any line difference between the vertical and horizontal lines. When I use an oblique nib (I have two wonderful vintage pens with OB and OM oblique gold nibs and a new Lamy 2000 steel with an OM nib, all left oblique) I can achieve very nice line variations and my writing looks very lively.

I am new to the world of fountain pens and love the pencasts. I learn so much from them. I was so glad to hear your tip of the week. On social media, I see so many people posting photos of nibs they have put under the loupe before they have even tried the pen. If they see the slightest thing off, they are worried and start messing with the nib. In my view, the average fountain pen user shouldn't examine their nib in detail as soon as it gets in their hands. Write with it first, and then if something seems off (for example, it snags the paper) begin the diagnostic process. So I agree with Drew. Some people make this "hobby" harder than it needs to be.

I watched a lot of videos on the TWSBI Mini before I decided to buy it. I like it a lot, but I don't write with it very often. I do keep it in my rotation, similar to Drew's 3 pen strategy. However, the Mini introduced me to the awesome, amazing TWSBI brand. My next TWSBI pens were the ECO in Orange (no longer available - glad I bought it), then 580 ALR Prussian Blue (love the color, and the nib), and then the Swipe (huge value). The Mini is great to write with when I'm outdoors and want a smaller format. Love watching Brian and Drew banter back and forth. Write on!

I love TWSBI pens. Specifically I love that they're all (or mostly) demonstrators and let you show off the ink. I do sometimes with they came in more fun colors, like maybe they could do more non-demonstrator color pops in the ECO line? And I mean solids like the Jade and Mint, not see-throughs like the blue and purple. To me the see-throughs look cheap. I don't know why. I almost forgot to mention: I didn't realize the TWSBI Diamond was not supposed to post. I've been gently setting the cap onto the butt end. Now that I know not to do that, I love the pen even more. What a revelation. Like when you yawn a few hours after a flight and your ears finally clear and you're like "Ohhhhhhhhhh, so that's what things are supposed to sound like".

TWSBI Minis are the best! I love the size, style, and ease of use of this pen. I wear large size women's gloves (not when using a pen!) and find a smaller pen most comfortable. I wish that TWSBI would make a Vac-Mini in Iris (then could be a set with the larger Vac Iris) or other additional new colors so I could add to my collection. I do like the screw on posting, it makes it more secure, and I always want to post the Mini size pen. I also wish that the rose gold nibs and iris nibs were available separately so I could switch out nibs for pens of those editions. In reference to Unicorn Buckets - I don't remember hearing this before (I may have missed it) but I think that it is a thing - unicorns would need a modified bucket to eat or drink out of because of their horn. HOWEVER, unicorns should always be wild and free, and not be kept in captivity, so there is no need for such a bucket. Perhaps Unicorn Bucket is a euphemism for a thing that could exist but should NOT.

Fun fact about why the name of the chess piece is rook, if not why it's shaped like a turret. Rook is a romanization of the Persian word rukh, which means chariot. Obviously, in medieval Europe, chariots were not a thing, but the name stuck as the modern game developed. If you're familiar with other games in the chess family, they almost all still feature chariots properly speaking which have the same movement as a European rook.

As I understand the octothorp it comes from map making in the Middle Ages. The center square was the town where the cathedral was located as well as the town. Fields were thorps so the usually eight fields or farms around the town were the thorps. My understanding could be wrong so your mileage may vary. Being an ENTP as well I love using it in conversation just to mess people up and educate them.

As always, a wonderful Pencast. So nice to spend some time with you guys. At some point, I would love for you guys to take a look at the Pilot Prera for the pen highlight. I have two and I absolutely love them. The solid color versions are particularly attractive but I don't think Pilot USA distributes them.
