One of my ECOs, I think I left it inked and unused for about 2 years during the pandemic, and only recently took it out. It had been full of Sailor Sakura Mori ink, but the water had almost completely evaporated. No worries, there was still concentrated liquid ink in the barrel, so I just pointed it up, ejected the air, then put it in a glass of clean water and sucked water into it. Instant rejuvenation!

Was contemplating which brand to purchase as my first fountain pen and came across this video. Love the detailed pen descriptions and history of the brand. So when I visited my local pen shop yesterday, there was no doubt in my mind TWSBI was the one for me. Am now writing with a Diamond 580 AL R nickel grey. Absolutely love the design and smoothness of the nib!

Great brand intro! Someone commented once that TWSBI could also mean Taiwan's pen. I'm looking forward to other Taiwanese brand deep dives.Opus 88, Penlux, Laban, Tenny, Mr Cypress are just some that readily come to mind and are deserving of more love and attention.

I was just searching around The Goulet Pen Company and stumbled upon TWSBI. I used to be into fountain pens 8 years ago and lost touch since I kept loosing them, ie the Pilot Metropolitan and the Lamy Safari. I've yet to hear about TWSBI. I saw your video and was like I need an indepth video with all the models lined up. You guys nailed it! Thank you!

TWSBI is my fav fountain pen company! It also was the company that got me into fountain pens too. I was gifted an ECO, but it took me over a year till I started to use it. My fav TWSBI is the Vac700R Iris. The Vac Mini became my fav pen to carry around since the ink capacity cannot be beat for a pocket pen. TWSBI pens are certainly the bulk of my fountain pen collection. TWSBI ♥️

Thanks for giving TWSBI some love! I feel they still get a bad rep even now due to the cracking that used to happen back in the day. In reality, I suspect a lot of the damage these days comes from poor handling and over-tightening. I was living in China for 6 years and man, the fountain pen culture out there is incredible. Then I branched out to Japanese brands, and eventually certain western brands. I still carry my eco with me wherever I go, 3 years and running. Not a single crack! great video guys. subbed.

Thank You very informative and interesting to watch! Twsbi is a great well made affordable pen. A pleasure to use and very reliable as well. The 700r, the eco, the 580, the 580 alr, the classic, the swipe are all in my collection. All are enjoyed completely and satisfying to use! The nibs are all very smooth and write first time all the time! Another bonus they all share. Very comfortable in hand, longer writing sessions are pleasant 😊. If I had to choose just one model in the Twsbi lineup it would be the 580's. Love the size, well balanced and proportioned. The #5 nib writes perfectly for me and the overall look with the faceted barrel and the feel is just a luxurious feel in every way at a very attractive and affordable price!! Thanks 😊

@@saikatnextd HI! In my opinion, the Twsbi 580 is more similar to the Eco in the fact it is a piston filler as your Eco. The Swipe is a cartridge or a converter fill. They both are great pens to use, the 580 series is a better overall feel in hand in my opinion. Also the 580 is more costly as well. The Swipe is a slightly lighter weight pen. They both have a good ink capacity with the 580 holding more ink, but the swipe is very good also. ""I would choose the Twsbi 580 type if I had to only own one"". You could buy two Swipe pens for about the price of one 580, and have two nib sizes.

The best thing that happened to fountain pens was the TWSBI ECO. It's gorgeous, works like a charm, easily serviceable, priced inexpensively, and comes in lots of colors. The only downside to them is that only three of the colors are always produced, the clear, black, and white. All the other colors are limited runs, and once they are gone, they are gone. That's great for TWSBI, but not so great for customers, so if you see a color you like, don't wait too long. I got my first ECO in 2017, and I loved it so much, I don't even use my expensive pens, anymore. Now I own I think 7 ECOs/ECO-Ts, and plan to buy more.

Next to my two Pilot Vanishing Point pens, TWSBI is my favorite (still growing) collection, adding another smoke rose gold and Prussian blue 580 ALR this week. I have several Lamy pens that I seldom use any longer. Thanks for the info. I was planning to switch out my rose gold nib between my Smoke Rose Gold Eco and Diamond 580. Which Twsbi do you think is most comfortable? I got a gift card and want to get either the Twsbi Diamond or the Mini. I have a couple Eco pens and don’t want to write with anything else now. @@SilverSeaOT7 I was writing with my TWSBI Eco yesterday and this morning. Love the experience. I love the mini, but if I had to choose just one, personally I would choose the Diamond 580. It is a comfortable weight, gorgeous design, and large ink capacity. The only plus the mini has is that you can screw the cap on for posting. The full size Diamond 580 does not screw on for posting which means you may accidentally turn piston if you post. If you choose not to post this wouldn’t be an issue. The last consideration would be length. Do you prefer full size pens? Have you experienced or have the need for pocket pens! I could make a video explaining the details of your concerns if it would be timely to your purchase decision. I do hope this information helps. Thanks for watching! 🖋❤️

My first TWSBI was a glow in the dark ECO. I have the purple & green versions. I use some difficult inks (nitro) and the ECO (B) is perfect! I just bought a VAC mini last week, haven’t received it yet. I didn’t realize I could switch nibs. Does that require a lot of cleaning? I use a broad most of the time but would prefer a F or M for writing. 🧐

Thanks for sharing Nancy! TWSBI makes it really easy to swap nibs for the pens that they make replacement nibs for. You simply twist off at the grip section and replace with the new one. Wash the nib out after you take it off is probably a good idea before putting it away to store.

The German nibs TWSBI used had a lot to do with their success. Jowo are the best, Bock a close second. When they replaced pens that cracked and improved their acrylic they became very popular. I don't like piston fillers as I change inks a lot. I am clumsy and drop pens when I am out and about. The X750 pens can take it. I am a Jinhao metal pen fan.

Why do I use a cartridge-syringe refill system. Well, I will list its advantages: 1. Larger volume (for example, the Pilot cartridge contains approximately 1-1.1 ml, and its most popular converters contain about 04.-0.5 ml) 2. Syringe refill is pure refill. I have a mountain of syringes (signed) for specific inks - I carefully draw ink into them, carefully insert the needle into the cartridge, fill it and put it in the pen. Everything, the pen does not dip anywhere, the pen does not get dirty, there is no loss of ink when wiping the pen and its scratching does not occur. 3. Some ink strongly stains the transparent parts of piston pens and converters, many owners cannot survive this and run around all the forums in search of detergents. With cartridges, everything is more optimistic - you can simply throw it away, and even wash Pilot with an ear stick )) 4. It is easier to draw ink residues from a can with a syringe than to collect them with a pen feeder. 5. No need to rinse the pen or converter when changing the color / type of ink - since we contact with a certain jar using a certain syringe (by placing a cartridge with new ink - you can simply pull out the old ones by wiping the pen on a damp cloth). 6. If you go somewhere, you can easily take a couple of whole ones with you. ______ Naturally, if we have a pen with a glued converter or piston, we don’t have to choose.

I believe the size numbers (4, 5) are the size of the metal part. The size letters (SF F M B) are the width of the slit, thinness of the line drawn ( Fine, Medium, Broad) … wow, I’m obviously not a pen seller 🤷🏼‍♀️ hope that made sense

i'm new to fountain pens and i am curious, when people said "the ink dries out" does that mean only the ink in the nib so it will be hard starting or there's actually a chance for the whole ink in the pen either in cartridge,converter or piston to completely dried out /evaporate and gone?
@theronwolf3296
@theronwolf3296 Жыл бұрын
A little bit of both, though it would take a long time for a capped pen to dry out internally. Usually (unless you are using some specialized inks) you can easily get it going going again by soaking in clean water overnight, then flushing by filling water in and pushing it out several times.
@Yoseka

Hi Alex! It can be either just in the nib or also in the cartridge/converter but ink drying out is mainly used to describe some drying out occurring and resulting in there being poor ink flow/scratchiness when writing.

Great video! TWSBI makes amazing pens and their customer service is excellent. I recently purchased a limited edition TWSBI Draco. Beautiful pen with quite a different look from the rest of their lineup. It had a small crack in the barrel and the online store I purchased from was unresponsive. Through a friend in the industry I was put in contact with TWSBI and they Immediately mailed me a new barrel directly from Taiwan. I was pretty impressed. As someone new to fountain pens, I am interested in the significance of and differences between numbered nib sizes. I understand fine, medium etc. but what do those numbers 4, 5, 6 mean and how do they affect the writing experience?

NVM just saw your long video on nibs. You clearly cover the nib size number question there. Thanks!

I have both the 580 and the Eco and the 580 is Much nicer. The price difference is worth it. I would get the clear or clear aluminum 580 for sure.

Does TWSBI still give life time warranty/free replacement parts?

Yes, they tend to be really about supporting issues with their pens as long as the defect/damage is not from misuse!

Right. I cannot spend the money on an ECO when LOTS of people's TWSBI(all different models) Crack. Some folks have 40-100 pens in their collection. These people who have lots of different brands are not newbies with regards to fountain pens....new Ecos are cracking. TWSBI has been cracking for several years. I don't get it.

ridiculosly expensive for an "entry" level pen made out of the cheapest materials... it will crack to crumbs in less than a year

Our team all has TWSBIs and none of us have had experiences with cracking! Not to mention our store testers which really get a lot of mileage and very rarely have any issues except when they are fully dropped. I know there were some issues earlier on in production many years ago, but TWSBI improved their formulation and we really love their fountain pens so much. Totally respect your opinion and experience of course, but just thought we'd share our experience with them as well.

That reversed name and their logo is the reason i will never get one, despite their quality. Getting letters that mean something good and reverse them to mean nothing or to mean something bad, no thanks, i am not evil. Also that triquetra, a Wiccan symbol. Let them sell their pens to witches and wizards, or to people with no concerns of that. There are a thousand of pen brands out there to choose.
