This was phenomenal. First we see them on the river Styx and seeing the ghosts of the fallen but when we get to the line "captain ", first person to show up is polites because captain was his final words. Along with the ghosts of his men, we see the gods saying ruthlessness is mercy. Not just any gods but the three highest gods of the pantheon. Zeus told Odysseus to kill hectors baby if he wants to secure his future. Poseidon said that Odysseus should have killed the cyclope. Hades is the king of the dead. But they all follow that idea that ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves. In order to save yourself , you need a level of ruthlessness because kindness can be naivete. If hectors baby lived, Ithaca would have been destroyed. If Odysseus killed the cyclope, he wouldn't have had to face Poseidon. He wouldn't have to go to the under world

when i saw the injured ankle i screamed 😭 i love epic sm but it cuts out the cat where they visit achilles/patroclus/agamemnon and the others in the underworld and you put them back!!
