Hi everyone, I made this video because I wanted to share a optimistic perspective about resellers!! I understand not everyone likes them and thats ok but I think it's also important to not generalize a whole group of people who rely on reselling for employment. There is a non-ethical and ethical way to resell and it all depends on how the individual determines the price of a item. Some people price off greed and some price off fairness. At 21:42 I talk about this and how a lot of it stems from bigger thrift corporations who price gouge their inventory. I should've put this in the beginning of the video and its my mistake for using a controversial title. I have a dream of one day owning a antique/book resale shop!! So I'm very passionate about reselling and wanted to open up this conversation fully knowing that it might be controversial. I hope this clears up any misunderstandings :)

u go, girl!!! i once read that buying the same piece of clothing 2nd hand generates an 86% lower carbon footprint than buying it new... im a total depop girlie!! i live 2 miles from a Brandy store but all the Brandy i own is 2nd hand... no way im giving em money, it goes to somebody who saw a cute piece, HADTA have it, then got tired of it or it no longer fit... lol, at least that's my depop fantasy world...😻❤️

hehehe yes you get it!! On the rare times that I do go shopping at the mall I like to take pictures of everything I like and then research it online -- most of the time i find it secondhand on depop or ebay!! And for half the price!!

I disagree a little bit with the last comment. Almost 80% of clothing waste is fast fashion so I’m not 100% convinced that most of the clothing in the thrift store isn’t fast fashion garbage, at least where I am. What that looks like depends on how the people who own the thrift store source their clothing. Everything that I own that is at least a little valuable goes to a 2nd hand store, but for the few fast fashion items I do own(I’m trying to not own any but I’m plus side and certain items are literally impossible to find unless I get a bespoke garment made) when I’m done with them they will be repurposed into rags or sewing projects.

Maybe it's because i live in a smaller town (demographic is mostly older folks) that there luckily isn't a lot of fast fashion in the thrift bc it's mostly clothes from older generations. but I definitely agree that whenever I get closer to larger cities I often see more shein!! And tbh, I've never bought directly from shein but I do have a cardigan that I got thrifting from shien and I love it sm and wear it often!! Im not saying fast fashion is quality clothing, but for the sake of repurposing clothes I don't think its necessarily such a bad thing to buy second hand fast fashion. I think we can all agree that fast fashion SUCKS (in your case it's totally understandable-- its only the people that abuse fast fashion!!) and it sucks that it's polluting not only the thrifts but the earth 😔 but thanks for sharing ur thoughts, it's something I hadn't considered before!!

i'm sorry but depop sellers are greedy and us is not the only country with this problem. in mine, where half the population is unemployed, they are buying everything from garage sales and the new clothes is as expensive as in your country but not our wages. so nope, they are greedy and unethical and should be called out for their actions. i sure do expose them selling something 15x the price.

@camdelg1 I definitely agree that there are unethical resellers who price their clothes unfairly and im so sorry that they are doing that in ur country!! but to generalize them all I feel is also a bit unfair (the second half of my vid i talk about this) for example I love going to a local vintage market or antique stores where small buisseness resell curated clothes, its a lot cheaper then buying a full outfit from a department store and it makes me happy to support a individual rather than a corporation! However I know its a controversial opinion and it can depend on what resources people have so I'm not forcing u to agree with me, just voicing my opinion on why I dont think they are all bad 🩷🩷

As a depop seller for many years i really do appreciate your talk on defending resellers.. there’s so much hate about it that whenever i see that typa content online i always anticipate something negative being said about it so i was happy to see u confront that stigma with resellers, i feel like its not talked ab enough so thank you for shedding sum light on that (:
