The spirit is willing but the body is weak, it keeps wanting to do what it’s always done. This game is maddening

I get you, played to a good standard sometime ago (8hc) and I’ve started playing again after 15 years away, but with arthritis in my right knee and hip! I’m having to adapt to what my body is now capable of 😂😂

Struggled with casting for a long time. Will give this try. Thanks and really enjoying the channel. Keep up the good work...we are listening and watching!

Thanks, you have just given me a light bulb moment in what I am not doing in my swing. 👏👏😊

We've been addressing this independently, too, but by sinking down to correct the casting it's altered the low-point to behind the ball. You're onto something, just not convinced 'hitting down' before the ball is the best visualisation of the swing.

Thanks for the advise Andy.

Your biggest concern has to be your shoulder turn in the backswing and not a „casting“ motion. I see a 50-60 degree at max in your backswing with that view. Turn 90 degree and your have much more time to change directions. You just lift your arms without turning your shoulder properly. Try to bring your left shoulder behind the ball = 90 degrees at minimum 😉 This creates a perfect base and more time for the downswing. By the way your timing will improve tremendously.

This works if you are not living and playing golf where the ground is hard. Here in the Caribbean taking a divot on some courses is almost impossible.
@michaelwillmot20803 ай бұрын
There are a lot of courses like that in Australia, I raise the left heel on the back swing and make sure I hit the ball first before the ground to make the ball fly higher , cheers.

Or ….. you could look at the videos posted by the guy from The Miracle Swing who points out that the cast is a natural movement and easier to execute. He also encourages hitting down on the ball but advocates taking the club away inside to the right sooner. The cast , or over the top move, puts the club back on plane but gives you way more leverage to hit the ball with compression. Don’t take my word for it , just take five minutes to watch. Aesthetically his swing is a joy and reminiscent of Ben Hogan on whom he initially modelled himself.

You need to check out Mike bender’s two videos on downswing. The internal focus is fast arms but it results in body first. Not the other way around. Your over the top is coz you seem to have limited hand depth in the backswing due to less hip turn.

May I suggest that you are casting and swinging across the ball because you are way too far to the inside on your backswing, so have to make that 'over the top' motion coming down to try and adjust . I suggest work on the first couple feet of your backswing and get your swing more on one plane...Based on your low 8 iron trajectory if that was accurate that will also give you higher ball flights and softer landings. That and a longer backswing aids us as we turn into old goats..ha?
