When Trent and Allie started building their main house they made clear they hired Brandon as their employee. When they completed the house they continued to keep him on for continued odd jobs and now the new garage build. This is Brandon’s FULL TIME job.

Plus they are putting their profits into other investments besides the van building business. They have at least one rental property that is rented out. We see an hour or so of their lives each week. I think they're paying all their employees well. Brandon was in need of employment when they hired him full-time and he's mentioned often in the comments, people enjoy his company as much as Leo's. I don't think he would be doing this for free but it might just make sense for him at this point in his life, he's not required to risk his life getting to work, his schedule is flexible and he can take a snow day to take care of his kids if they need him. You mention the small house, you might remember Trent and Allie were living full-time in a van and used to a small home space. This house in the mountains was intended to be a home base for continued van life. Things changed when the baby came, and now they're planning an addition to the house. The garage really isn't that big and it's going to be finished about the time the ground is thawed to start the next project. Yes, your hat is beautiful.

Lot of rubbish Trent and Allie pay Brandon well, gets paid even if they don't have work for him. They recently bought him a truck. Brandon and Trent have been friends since school. Jealousy is ugly and trying to pick up views on the back of a reputable channel is despicable. I'm not quite sure what you said in most of this video. It's been made abundantly clear that Trent hired on Brandon as a full time employee, this is Brandon's full time job. They even gave him a Cummins Ram as a company truck since his old truck kept breaking down. Yes trent spends money like it's water, but they make money too. They post a video twice a week on their channel, and every video gets hundreds of thousands of views, couple that with the van business and some wise investments, and it seems trent is doing OK. Plus allie still does her graphic design work full time. There isn't much for them to complain about. Their van business is a joint venture with a few other people, and it looks like it works. Understand, they don't typically buy a van, build it and sell it, but rather, they have someone bring them a van and then they build that van to the customer's specifications. It seems that they do ok at that because they've now been doing it for a few years. The only reason why Trent has a big garage, is because he built one. Don't be jealous, of you want a big garage, you can build one too. Buying all of these tools and equipment is part of building out the garage. The house does have almost no rooms, but Understand, when they designed it they were accustomed to living in a van, and had no plans for their son to come along. If you follow them as closely as I do you will know that the addition to the house starts as soon as the garage is finished. Don't criticize what you don't know.

Brandon is definitely on the pay roll - they have made that very clear. He also leaves early every afternoon to go pick up his kids from school so that’s why it suits him so much to work for Trent. The big garage has a self contained apartment upstairs being built for friends and relatives, and since you have made them your business you would know by now that their planning permission for extending the house came through a few weeks ago, and they are starting that now. I don’t care what you think of them, but don’t lie about them in a video with the word “truth” in the title. Allie does a lot of admin work for the van company, and the editing for both KZbin channels.

The large garage you are commenting on is for Trent's garage which is another business as well as a youtube page. The tools are needed for their lifestyle, vehicle repairs and building their home. As for Brandon not getting paid, that would violate labor laws and having 100 or more videos with him actually working for them the IRS would have bitten them already. Like or dislike them, it seems you are hoping to make your own money off them. As for the tiny house, there are more and more tiny homes built everyday. From their van to actually building their own home is a huge accomplishment.

I won't advise anyone to put all of their eggs in one basket. KZbin can any time they want to change their policy around monetization, so you won't be able to make money on your videos. As a content creator, you should have at least 3-5 income sources, from where you get money from. That way it won't hurt nearly as much if you lose one of them.

Not a real huge fan of theirs at this point, but between KZbin/Google Ad Sense (the math isn't all that difficult ~ the last time I bothered they had over 350,000 subscribers, now it is up to 465,000), they make over $11,000 a month after the fees. They have a Patreon with more than 400 members paying $1 - $50. They also sell merchandise, and their estimated income is over $400,000.00 per year. Adding in the van sales (they are partners with the other owners, not the owners) would probably be more of an expense than income right now, but I haven't seen much on income from that so far. There are a bunch of videos up regarding their income and pre-youtube life and income for anyone that bothers to take the time to do a basic search. Frankly, what they spend their money on is way at the bottom of the list of anything I question about them. It's their money and they can spend it any way they choose, same as everyone else.

Matthew G - It started out as Trent’s mountain biking channel, and then his girlfriend Allie needed to travel for work, so Trent decided to create his first livable van specifically to suit that purpose. That first van build could also accommodate convenient comfortable camping for the mountain biking trips, so they could accomplish both goals in one trip. As a couple they decided to do more extensive traveling, and they decided to build a bigger van which added a shower, toilet, and oven to the design. Their second van build is often copied, because it’s a great layout and design. Followers also wanted Trent’s advice building their own van, so Trent and Allie published their components lists for free and Trent started charging for van build consults. They did a very cool collaboration with The Nomadic Movement on their way to their final destination goal for their most recent big journey, which was to make it all the way to Ushuaia and back. On the way to Ushuaia, Trent proposed marriage to Allie at the Tikal Mayan Ruins -- it’s a fantastic video (watch it if you haven’t). On their way back from Ushuaia the pandemic hit, and they were told by the U.S. Government to return to the USA. They couldn’t figure out how to ship the van (their actual home) back to the USA under the circumstances, so they left it behind in storage in Argentina. Everything else that happened after that happened to adapt to the circumstances. They chose to have their wedding sooner rather than later. They got pregnant, and the baby was born prematurely. They documented all of this and shared it with their followers, and anyone who was curious. Pretty much everyone who runs a vanlife channel that i follow reacted to being told that they had to “go home” because of the pandemic by buying land or property, mostly to add some stability to their lives. For some of them, this also became a potential source of future income (such as through AirBnB). As far as what their channel is “supposed” to be, it’s a social media account where they share videos about themselves. And they do that very well, in my opinion.

Here in America, Anyone can start a business selling just about anything they want. And, people can start KZbin channels as well. They can also hire their Best Friend as a full-time employee perfectly legally. Also, on KZbin, one can gain so many followers that they become eligible to be monitized by KZbin and run ads and earn a great income having a successful channel. Not a small, piddly channel like yours, but a legitimately large channel. And, by starting their own business, they gain tax advantages and can write-off most of the equipment they use in their business. So, they're doing great. If I remember correctly, when Trent continued on with building his house after the foundation and framing were completed, he said he hired Brandon. I can't believe that Brandon would be willing to work for free. I wonder if they have a rich benefactor, especially considering how many tools, trucks and other purchases he makes on a regular basis. Are product sponsorships lucrative? I'm not maligning them as people but I question their decisions.

I remember Brendan mentioned (in one of their videos), that he is glad to be able to help, and doesn't need or want anything. Trent already gave him the truck and the snowmobile, and that was apparently enough for him. Sponsorships CAN be a great way to make a lot of money, but most sponsorships (like the VPN sponsorships) won't give you a lot of dollars on your account + you will, of course, have to pay tax on any income. I have finished the first part (there will be at least 2 parts) of the video series around Trent and Allies' finances. I know I said, that I will release it tomorrow, but when I hit 300 subscribers on my channel, I'll release it - and I guarantee that there are some very surprising numbers in the video, so make sure to share my channel with your friends.

Trent and Allie have a ton of loyal "goody-do-gooder" followers who will support them no matter what. I have watched them for many years and up until now I didn't have a problem. I do agree though that Trent seems to spend more interest on his toys (snowmobile, trucks, skid steer, excavator, every tool imaginable and in his man cave) than putting that interest into his family.
