As much as I love this wave and bringing back Koopa Cape, my favorite track of all time and even adding anti gravity underwater, the one issue I have is the sunset got removed in Sunset Wilds, despite happening in Super Circuit. Hopefully it will be brought back soon enough since it's the highlight of the track and removing it was a big crime on Nintendo's part.

@@JohnTK The missing sound effect in Waluigi Pinball can still be faintly heard in the course intro so I don't think that needs a change. However, removing the sunset is just a major facepalm considering it's in Super Circuit but not 8DX which runs on more powerful hardware and could at the very least have kept the sunset change. Hopefully this gets fixed soon like with the cars in Coconut Mall during Wave 1

I don’t get why you can’t drive up the walls on the pipe in koopa cave. The same with them taking away the halfpipe turns on coconut mall. The whole gimmick of the game is you can drive on walls and upside down

Unpopular opinion: Moonview Highway is goated in both the original and BCP. The music is such a banger and the way the BCP version of the music has an even more clear distinction between the city and the highway variations and the highway variation adds sax to it is just so underrated imo. Squeaky Clean Sprint is definitely a close second for me in this wave though.

11:30 I love it when Troy mentions that he rides his bike on the bike path in downtown Los Angeles right as he approaches the “amazing and incredible” bike path on the track itself! This track has such a fantastic recreation from its original design and I would just love to travel to that tropical paradise especially because of its fantastic bike path atmosphere! Nintendo should’ve also added SoFi Stadium on the track in honor of Troy’s favorite NFL team…the Los Angeles “Shock Chargers!”

Loved the Athens track! It felt so adventurous and not like a city track! Moonview highway looks beaaaautiful and the music is a banger. The bathroom track is so cool and creative, you can take multiple paths with the glider just like in ninja hideaway (this is what MK7/MK8 needed to do more with the glider!) Really disappointed that it doesn’t go into nighttime on sunset wilds Maybe I’m bad but Koopa cape is still hard. And Vancouver velocity is so relaxing

I managed to figure out the rivals for the new characters after doing some tests so here they are Kamek - Bowser Jr. Wiggler - Yoshi, Shy Guy (Which are interestingly the exact same rivals from Mario Kart 7) Petey Piranha - King Boo (With King Boo now have Petey Piranha as his rival) Also for whatever reason Kamek and Wiggler don’t use the normal Peach Parasol Glider color with Wiggler using the orange color and Kamek using the turquoise color

Moonview Highway actually doesn’t have a set placement for the boosters. They randomize every time you load the map.

i’m having a lot of fun with kamek/city tripper/rollers. city tripper got a ground speed buff so it sits right in between ink striker and mr scooty now in terms of speed and mini turbo

My favorite so far is definitely Vancouver Velocity, I’m surprised to say it considering I adore Koopa Cape and Moonview Highway in Wii and I’m typically not the biggest fan of the Tour city tracks, but Vancouver sticks out to me massively because of the forested areas and the ice skating rink. Love the difficulty, too! I’m mad about how badly they neutered Sunset Wilds, though. They did it dirty :/ it was the one I was most excited for, too!

In this version of Koopa Cape, it might actually be quicker to do the waterfall shortcut shroomless than go the regular route. It definitely doesn't make you fall off. Just slows you down slightly but it works well if you get a good angle and it isn't punishing

I’m really sad they got rid of the Koopa sign and kept the orange hills on Koopa cape, that the cars are so slow on moonview and that the time doesn’t change on sunset wilds. Overall though I still very much enjoyed it, I was surprised how much I liked Athens.

From what I understand, Petey Piranha shares stats with Rosalina, Wiggler shares stats with Waluigi, and Kamek shares stats with Mario

Athens Dash - 4/5 - Kinda cluttered, but nice once you get used to it, and I love the secret cave with items Daisy Cruiser - 2/5 - It looks great, but the track design hasn't aged well, and it's really short Moonview Highway - 3/5 - Mostly sad because we were robbed of Dry Dry Ruins Squeaky Clean Sprint - 5/5 - Pleasantly surprised at how complex it is without feeling awkward Los Angeles Laps - 5/5 - Might be the best city course layout-wise. Sunset Wilds - 1/5 - Probably the worst GBA retro Koopa Cape - 4/5 - Not my favorite course, but it works well Vancouver Velocity - 4/5 - Great overall, but lap 3 is bad, and lap 1 is a little tight without Tour's smart steering Overall, my third favorite wave, with wave 4 in second and wave 3 in first.

I already tried out the brand new tracks. They're a lot more difficult now. I conquered the Daisy Cruiser one just fine thanks to my muscle memory from playing it on Mario Kart: Double Dash. But that Athens Dash track is absolutely gorgeous!

There's this trend in these DLC retro tracks that always made me feel off about them, not only because of the fact that they're cartoonish, but also because they feel VERY upscaled and nerfed, and that makes tracks like Maple Treeway and Moonview Highway not as fun as they were before, because they're no way near as difficult. If wii Rainbow Road comes, people will notice it if they do that. Turns just feel too wide and open and it's not a good thing. If that's an adaptation for 200cc, that means they forgot about the concept of 200cc. You want to feel like you go incredibly fast through the tracks, not going at a pace intended for them.

10:34 fun fact, there are A LOT of side paths coming off of that up-path at the end in Sqeaky Clean Sprint. You can also trick off of the drain in the sink, drive along the dirt in the last turn on the bottom path, there’s also a mushroom gorge mushroom if you glide all the way up and right to a railing. All of the glider stuff can only be accessed from the end of lap 2 and beginning of lap 3. I think there’s 4-5 possible things to do including driving on the faucet and a plant. Also I found that you can drive outside of the tub and under the ramp right before it. The tub drain actually sucks you in if you don’t move, same with the fan and it’s wind.

i was so hyped for this wave but it falls short personally, the koopa cape redesign without water in the pipe is not a change i'm keen on, also they removed all the cool koopa signposts (like the one after the firts boost panel jump or the one as soon as you enter the water stream part). Don't get me started on sunset wilds, now it really is a glorified circle with its main mechanic removed (the fact that the sun doesn't actually set). Then, and this is just my opinion, I was kinda disappointed by Vancouver, I haven't played the Tour version but this one felt kinda bland, i don't know if they oversimplified this with the porting, same as sunset wilds in tour.

Wow they really did nerf Moonview Highway. Even the *Tour* version has all but one of the boost panels from the original! Rather disappointing. The part that you called the toilet is actually the sink. The water spray that you used to go to the top path in the final lap comes from the toilet. (Not quite squeaky clean, right? 😅) I wonder what happens if you fall into the toilet…

my favourite track of wave 5 is for sure Vancouver. The layout is simple but good. the visuals are great. and the music is amazing. Just a very fun course. That being said, LA and squeeky clean are also great.
