I still think the learning curve is way too steep for me to ever willingly use inside drift in this game personally. I'm just so accustomed to the regular lines and intuitive movement that inside drift simply does not have in this game (much unlike Mario Kart Wii lol). I'll never understand how some people get so good with this awkward control style.

@@markymark443 personally, I just picked a bike from the get go and I didn’t really have much problems learning the game with it. Also I have a some experience with bike simulators, which have a similar cornering meta, so I guess it helped

Just so you know, Jet Bike actiually shares stats with Short Bike, and Yoshi Bike shares stats with Comet (As well as with Teddy Buggy, fun fact). The bad one is the Master Cycle.

Usually when I play Mario Kart 8 at all I use the Standard Combo, mainly because I personally don't really like to pick three parts. I rather have how Mario Kart Wii had with the vehicles. The play style of inside drift is very different from normal karts so here’s some things to remember if anyone wants to learn. This is coming from somebody who has used inside since the game came out and I see these as the most common mistakes on videos like this: 1. The drift does start of slow and then kick up a notch, this means your lines need to be different from the other two types. 2. You can’t hop to change alignment. Hopping on an inside only changes wether or not you touch the ground. If you try to hop to realign with a mushroom, you are doing it wrong. Just commit to the drift and it will all work out, just have a bit of faith. 3. Coins are much easier to grab on inside drift because the lines they use are actually optimal for inside drift oftentimes. If you are starting out, follow the coins and you might have a lot more success. 4. Hitting walls means most of the time you actually have to give up a turbo, it sucks, but your base turning while out of drift is better than you think, just let go of the drift and drive without it until you are realigned.

Yoshi Bike and Comet share stats. Altough they feel different with Yoshi Bike being a bit more compact in design and arms leaning in the direction of your drift. I usually prefer Comet however, Also I'd like to add that this vehicle has really impressive tire placement so you could for example run Cushions and gain tons of Invincibilty without their size being unpractical.

Pretty sure the yoshi bike has the same stats as teddy buggy too, so it's pretty dang good if you can get used to it. I almost feel like it can be even better in many cases because it throws other people off. I hate racing around inward drifters.

I usally hold the brake button while drifting for a second if im about to bump into a wall during a drift. If you hold the brake for too long, your drift will stop. I dont know if it works for inside drift because i always use outside drift. Also, wiggler with all gold car parts is a decent combo

I love that you're always trying out new combos and pushing yourself to be even better! Just a little tip: inside drift works great for charging ultra mini-turbos because of the initial swing-out you experience when turning. Try drifting outside then going inside really sharply - it'll get you super and ultra mini-turbos really easily. I hope you try some more inside drift bikes soon!

I bought mario kart 8 deluxe like, 2 weeks ago. I started out using inside drift bikes and now I can't stop lol. I tried using a normal kart andit just felt unnatural. You do kinda need to know how to break drift, even on 150cc, because on maps like rainbow road 8 you can fall off pretty easily. I think it's made me a bit better at 200cc than average, but I still feel like I'm drunk when playing it.

I’ve not played MKWii in so long so I completely forgot how it feels to use an inside bike so I mostly have an idea with the inside (hybrid) drifting in MK8, it’s weird at first but then you get used to it and it’s still viable (except when you have to hop) One advantage of inside in MK8 online is that you take different lines and you get hit less often

I know this video is fairly old by now, but I remember tring Sport Bike once, a long time ago.... and never looked back. Trying to use outside-drift actually feels completely off to me nowadays. I think the best way I can describe inside-drifting is that it feels a bit like a slingshot. Needing to commit to a turn makes the whole drift feel more intense, and the sense of velocity you get when coming out of the turn seems a lot stronger to me than the other vehicles. I also think it helped me learn the tracks better, since the stakes of misjudging a turn or slipping into a hazard are a bit higher.

I have been using inside drift more often that regular vehicles (Lakitu, Comet/Monster/Cloud Glider being my go to). In all honestly they should buff them to where they have a higher mini turbo build if when drifting because you basically become ride or die for your drifts since the cannot hop turn (or whatever it’s called idk).

The Placebo Effect is in full swing on Troy in this video, He does well with the Bikes that he thinks have the same stats (Yoshi bike and Sport Bike), and then does poorly on the bikes that are actually Identical to the two he did well with (Comet=Yoshibike Jet bike= Sport bike).

With outside drift, you generally want to go as tight as possible around corners, and if you go a little too tight by accident, you can just drift back out. With inside drift however, you are not able to drift outwards again, so you generally have to either memorize the turns, or take all turns a little wider, making your racing lines less optimal. Inside drift is usually able to drift a little tighter when you know what you are doing, however outside drift is able to readjust your angle by drifting outwards or hopping to change your alignment after a turn. If you are used to outside drift where you can always realign yourself, inside drift is a nightmare before you get used to doing good turns which don't require realignment afterwards. By far the hardest thing about inside drift however is the fact that you don't oversteer. The camera is pointed the same direction as the cart, so with outside drift where your kart oversteers, you are able to look far ahead into the turn you are taking. With inside drift however, because you don't oversteer, the camera points out of the turn, and on really sharp turns you literally cannot see what obstacles are in the turn ahead of you, making it impossible to dodge many items.
