This episode was produced in partnership with The Gettysburg Museum of History. See how you can support history education & artifact preservation by visiting their website & store at www.gettysburgmuseumofhistory...
Many people were introduced to WWII history through Saving Private Ryan and the book/HBO series Band of Brothers. In this episode, we're joining Erik Dorr at The Gettysburg Museum of History to look at the actual uniforms of some of the men of Easy Company, 506th PIR. Along with some of the men from the series that you may be familiar with, like Babe Heffron & Forrest Guth, we'll also be looking at some of the men who weren't featured but were equally deserving of recognition.

Hi JD and Erick !! Why are those pockets on that uniform at 8:27 are not straight like the other uniform? And are those men who's getting reafy to board the planes on that short video clip are the men of easy company? It would be cool to mention it when you show those videoclip!! Your video are quality, professionally well done !! Thank you again and have both of you and your family a Great Happy New year 2022!!!

Absolutely loving all of the episodes you put out. I'm a massive WW2 enthusiast in particular D-Day and Holland (because i'm Dutch myself) and the rest of the Western campaign, I'm not very drawn to the eastern part aside from the concentration camps (been to Auschwitz, absolutely a must to see, very emotional). Started the love of it with Saving Private Ryan when I was 10 years old watching it with my sister and I was hooked for life. Eventually found Band of Brothers on TV and later bought the full dvd box and now I'm trying to scatter all bits and Pieces of Easy Company together, have over 60 or so books on WW2 including 4 or 5 from Easy and been trying to back track their steps. This is a very interesting episode and I love all of the info, massive thank you to yourself, Erik and Paul as well.. Heard new info about the Brits on Pegasus, african american soldiers (Never knew they landed on Normandy) I've been wanting to go to Normandy since I was 11 or 12, which is 15 years ago, and been actively planning for the past 3 years but corona and all has been in the way unfortunately. Hoping on getting everything set for this year so I can sightsee for 7 days straight with my dad on most of the D-Day sightings. Again, thank you so much for all the info, for some weird reason I feel that I "need" to go there, as in something or someone telling me. Some of these stories you tell are truly emotional touching. Thank you and hoping for more in the future

Again, a fascinating journey into the lives, equipment, apparel, and stories of the 101st. HUGE props to Eric Dorr for his past, present, and I'm sure future quests to bring us these sometimes never-before-seen artifacts, and their stories. He appears to be a walking encyclopedia of American History. He is the perfect counterpart to yourself, in bringing us closer to understanding these Easy Co men, their artifacts, and their experiences. Your trips to Europe, in effect, walking thru the footsteps of Easy Co personnel, and Eric's collection of tangible, and rarely seen associated memorabilia, form a perfect partnership. Thx JD & Eric, once again, for a most engaging and thought provoking glimpse into the personalities and experiences of our Greatest Generation.

Again... I´m just speechless and filled with awe of Mr Dorr´s work here. What a place that museum is!!!! That "stencil garment" is awesome, as well as the story of the "sewing kit" jacket! Just wonderful stuff. Aaaaand obviously (again) another great video!!!! Just plain wonderful!!!! As a guy born in Finland i really can appreciate the effort made to crush the enemy, in US case the Germans, in our the Russians. Now I live in the peaceful Sweden and just can´t wait for the next episodes to come. Perhaps an episode of how to maintain and conserve clothing and other stuff in this museum. The clothing seems to be in excellent condition are they washed or conserved in anyway? Same goes to guns, helmets, medals and stuff like that. It must take a lot of work to maintain all this!? How much is outsourced/done inhouse?? Is the work done once and then put away or is it a recurring process? How many people/companies are involved maintaining stuff like this? Are only original gun (or other) parts/textile/thread/insignia used or reproduced items to make things show worthy?? Questions.... questions...

Could you post a kinda how to/where to stay for visiting Normandy from the States, or at least from your own personal experience? I.e. is it better to fly into Paris and travel north versus flying into the UK and crossing the channel. Where to eat? What to bring? Etiquette? Love your videos and your work. You have a perfect presentation for these hallowed grounds and stories, and your passion is a big part of it. Patiently waiting your European WW1 battlefield tours (I have a hunch they’re coming eventually). Happy New Year!

@@TheHistoryUnderground I just saw. Documentary where they spoke about the Fake Paratroopers. I blame you! 😂🤣 I’m watching and reading anything I come across in connection with Gettysburg, The Civil War, D-Day… history in general. Thanks a lot JD 👍🎉,

Thanks. Like I said at the end, I think that those guys served as good ambassadors for the WWII generation. Hopefully it’s a gateway for people to learn about what those other guys did.

JD, I thoroughly enjoy your channel and the quality historic content you present. Might there be any future plans to cover the campaigns in the China Burma and India theater? Merrill's Marauders and their support elements would make an equally interesting series.

I have checked your previous videos and I hope that I didn’t overlook it, but if you haven’t, can you please do videos on both the 92nd Infantry Division and 761st Tank Battalion. Thanks! BTW, as a HUGE fan of Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan, I love your videos!

I am looking for a piece of D Day history. Is it possible to get a clicker clacker that was used at Normandy? If any knows I would appreciate it!

You can find some D-Day artifacts on the store page for The Gettysburg Museum of History and on the eBay page. Good luck finding a cricket though :)

I would definitely like to see the whole collection there. The uniforms and all the other things too. I saw a couple of German pistols there. I'd love to find out if they were captured by Easy Company men and if so, which ones brought them home. Lots to learn there I'm sure.
