Eh. I always have a problem with Slaanesh forces. We just can't actually show what monstrosities they do on the battlefield due to legal (and moral) problems with what they do. Everybody knows that they would cover the entire battlefield with guro and other even worse stuff. But we just can't show that. And that makes them somewhat anemic.

I recall an anecdote, cant remember which book, where Slaanesh presented a perfect chalice to its brothers. Khorne smashed it and yet felt the need to piece it back together then smashed it again and fixed it again. There was an air of sadness, even in triumph nothing but defeat and that he will smash that chalice again and again and again. They are kin yet they are not connected. They are the manifestations of not just the sentient Milky Way, but all galaxies of the universe. Terrifying.

I went looking and I think it is from fantasy, I believe from the 7th edition daemons of chaos codes. Not only is it a cool interaction between the gods in the next paragraph it also acknowledges that Slaanesh is more intimidating as a god of indulgence rather than just sex as even the other gods are wary of them. As excess can be found in Khorne's rage, Nurgle's love of pestilence and Tzeentch's schemes and perhaps in their actions they give strength to Slaanesh.

Nurgle is almost always given the shaft in most media. But as an ex infantryman, I would rather face any of the other gods 1000Xs before the Grandfather and his giggling hordes. Seas of biting flies that burrow into flesh, and block out the sun. The diseases and stench breaking body and morale long before you're even able to fight back. If fighting Slaanesh: just make sure to aim true, not be captured alive, and beat off before any engagements If fighting Khorne: just fight smart. Worst thing to happen is that you die *quickly If fighting Tzeench: who cares, you'll probably be too crazy to care how crazy you are or turn into a mindless chaos spawn. If fighting Nurgle: MOPP4 and marksmanship isn't going to save you. yYou WILL learn the meaning of decay as your flesh, mind, and soul succumb to the Grandfathers many gifts. BUT, Nurgle is Grandfather to all, and will always offer salvation to those willing to listen.

Lol this is horrendously incorrect. The worst one is Slaneesh and there is no competition whatsoever. If Slaneesh captures you those demons will do things to you 1000s of times worse than even the Dark Eldar. With Nurgle while you would suffer initially. Nurgle actually nums your pain receptors and brainwashes you into thinking you are beautiful. He is by far the best option because Nurgle is the only Chaos Demon God that doesn't actually want his followers to suffer.

The Great Unclean ones are ALWAYS the best characters in lore. My favorite being Ku'Gath, he is the only depressed demon of Nurgle and he truly was the most endearing character in the Plague Wars trilogy. I was actually rooting for him the whole time and said "awwwww" way too many times out loud.

You are correct with your analogy, comparing the chaotic hierarchy to D&D characters. They all have their own strengths and weaknesses. If the chaos gods weren’t so invested in throwing their dice to win the great game, they would take over the universe. This is why Abbadon is such a threat, his actions bring all the chaos gods together. This is what makes him so bad ass. Between him and the tyranids the galaxy is screwed, that’s if the emperor and the primarchs don’t get their 💩 together. If no more primarchs show up then the setting is doomed. Nice! And welcome to the party! Dark Angels have always been one the cooler space Marines in my opinion. In both lore, and in game mechanics (for a long time anyway) your army could play as regular Marines or Chaos Marines with only minor changes. I bought a squad of Thousand Sons about a decade ago, that are about half finished. I still love my accidental heretics sorcerers, and cursed robot mummies. But it really feels like my Primarch Magnus gets dumber and dumber every time he gets new lore.

One shouldn’t forget that slaanesh keeps a keeper of secrets busy in the great game as a chief assassin who’s job it is to specifically be perfect at killing. A supreme duelist who cannot by its nature be beaten. Of course it’s just the one demon and can’t be everywhere at once so the balance is maintained.

While I love all the Greater Daemons, the Lords of Change hold a special place in my heart. They (and Tzeentch) are one of the best examples of eldritch horror in the entire Warhammer universe, because while the other Daemon threats are simple*, every action you take for, against, or adjacent to a Lord of Change is something they probably foresaw and then _allowed_ to happen. It's like trying to fight destiny itself. You're not making choices, you're playing a part, and they've already finished the script. Personally, I'd say "winning" against a Lord of Change is more horrifying than losing to one, because now you have to wonder _why_ did it let you win? What did it set in motion? Certainly, this entire bit is very biased, cause I love Tzeentch, but it does feel like the whole point of his character and domain is to feel like you're taking a gamble that you've already lost. Honestly, the only thing that's annoying for me about the Lords of Change is that they have only one standard model and appearance, as the humanoid bird. Don't get me wrong, I understand why there's only one, because different appearances would make demand for new models, and new models are expensive to make, and I do like how they look, but it's annoyingly unfitting that the _Lords_ of _Change_ , Greater Daemons of the Chaos God of _mutation_ and _change_ , only have the one look. (GW could honestly make an official rule that Tzeentch armies are allowed to kitbash to make the most wild eldritch shit you can come up with, just because it'd be exceedingly fitting. It'd cause a hundred other problems and be near impossible to regulate, but it'd fitting) *Khorne and Nurgle are simple, being pure violence and pathogen. No need to make it complicated there. However, Slaanesh is a personification of seduction, weaving followers with subtle strings. Honestly, both Slaanesh and Tzeentch are horrifying for their abilites of cosmic manipulation, but Tzeentch is just impossible to predict. IIRC, he once had victory to Great Game in his hands, literally moments from winning, and he chose then to help the enemy, all to keep the Game going.

I do find that each greater demon has it's weakness. Be it being outsmarted, outplayed, or unravelled. The strengths each exalts can become it's foe. Psychic fire to a Greater Unlcean one for example, can burn or not. But there are versions of such fire some psykers can create which eternally burn the Unclean one and wither them. A bloodthirster is power in battle, but their mindlessness can see them drawn into traps and be nuetralized. Probably more die this way then one might think. A keeper of secrets is cruelty and speed, but can be undone when they become frustrated. Psychic chains can hurt them too, but most definitely is their inner competition. They don't work well together. And a Lord of Change is raw power in magic true, but their plots are known to stumble on each other, and can be twisted by the collapsing of some of those plans.

If every chaos god are simultaneously at their strongest and weakest, then Tzeentch and his greater demons are the strongest. At the height of his power, the other 3 chaos gods banded together in an alliance to take him down because he was too much of a threat to the rest of them. To appease them, he crystallized like half of his total power, then shattered it and scattered it throughout the universe to bring him back down to their level.

I have always gravitated to Wizards in all forms when playing RPGs. Naturally I favor Tzeentch, I Love the designs, 1K Sons are awesome! Let's be real, if there is one Good in the warp that has it figured out/ and is its own worst enemy, it's Tzeentch. Well a Chaos cult can be unassuming and under so many different coats of paint so to speak we'd never really know it was a Chaos cult at first since most use different names for the Chaos Gods. But if given time and led by a sorcerer, they'd be able to call out major world religions on modern day earth. Where Christians might do faith healing for mental illness or supposed possession, a Chaos cult could quite literally find an old army veteran with missing limbs and restore them in front of crowds of people, which would no doubt bring in converts by the hundred.

As someone who doesn't play the miniature war game and looks solely at the lore, I have to say that I have always loved Slaanesh and the Keepers the most. Like, I'm a slaaneshi cultist. I eat so much just because food is so good. I always hear "The God of Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll" and yeah, sure, but there's so much more to excess. and no, I don't think they are more powerful, but I agree with Wes' assertion that every party needs a rogue, and when your rogue is able to turn someone to your side with a touch, it's fairly easy to see their utility. At the same time, I have just, an intense love for Nurgle's personality. Like, if your gonna give us a villain make him fun. Make him hard to hate, and I feel like Nurgle's sense of humour is so on point. I'm not talking about his demons because in the lore for what I've gathered, they are all just Nurgle.

I’ll agree with Wes here that no greater daemon is stronger than another overall but each probably has an edge over on or another. My favorite is the GUO, I love how jovial they can be and I like how Ku’gath came to be one from starting out as a little nurgling.

I think you're right but it is also very much depends on context/ surroundings; specific demons are suited to certain situations. A great unclean one will have more success in the lower & under hives, where people are depressed & live in filthy conditions. A keeper of secrets will find more devotees in the upper levels of a hive city or a pleasure world. We're also in agreement regarding the potential power that can be wielded by the combined forces of chaos undivided(however rare that tends to be). Great video, thanks! It was great hearing a dive into the greater demons' lore. To answer your question, I am biased, of course, and think the KoS is the best, but objectively, you are so right: they are all dangerous in ways the others aren't, how can you rank them?
