I decided to go for a long challenging walk one day, flew 1500 miles from home, to begin a 560 mile journey with no prior experience, no one to help me along the way. Only had what was on my back, slept outside, hiked alone. I found out that I was stronger than I ever believed.

Enjoyment, community, control, mental fortitude that translates to other areas of life, perseverance, meditation, challenges and overcoming adversity. Things humans need in highly structured societies.

@@nameless5053 Unfortunately, I only remember him feeling scammy and being annoyed. I didn’t feel like he was really saying anything significant. But that doesn’t mean it couldn’t work for some. And maybe he believes it himself.

Goggins would agree with pretty much everything in this video. He's just really passionate about mental toughness but most people hate how passionate he is about it lol

I love team sports and absolutely loathe running, but I take up running just to train my perseverance. My neighbors think I am an enthusiastic runner.

""your body starts to eat itself""... In other words, he lost weight.🙄🙄 Quite common during endurance training.

Not just fat, your body eats it’s muscles which is not good

It really does start to eat itself.

@@sammihebert6493no it doesn’t. Muscle is the last thing your body would ever “eat”. If you’re not eating enough protein to repair your muscles then your muscles well start to break down further. However, if you run out of body fat then your body will start to use muscles as a last resort but only if you’re literally on death’s door

You don’t just lose weight, it eats up your body and you feel that full body achiness, the same you feel when your body fights a virus like the common cold

The number one best training advantage for these events is unemployment.

Maybe not very extreme events, but you can do a decent amount of endurance training and exercise even if you have school or work. I’ve even known a guy who worked out, went to school, and worked . Sometimes all within the same day .

Other than stating the obvious that was not very helpful. We all know pain is the hardest part of endurance sports. Perhaps that's why they all have psychologists in the budget.
