Flex was a huge loss to TUS. He brought a sensible, calm presence to Mark's Partridge-esq presenting style. But he left to do his own thing and KG followed suit to create the United View. The Flex and KG show was far better than the previous incarnation with Rants. Rants and Saeed I was never keen on to begin with, so I really wasn't bothered when they left. But if they think they were both directly responsible for the growth of the channel, they are sadly mistaken. Both started on fan cams with Flex, and it was TUS that gave them a bigger platform despite having their own channels. Sander left because he wanted to do his own YT channel, and Mark even appeared on it. If anyone recalls in the early days of That's Football Sander was even given his own watchalongs to host by Goldbridge. I think Sophie was just never asked to return. As for Aaron he actually explained on his own video why he left TUS. Where as, Adam, has now left twice. I am not too sure why, to my knowledge, he hasn't said anything as to the reason. He is back on his own re-branded channel Alex and Mad Marcus if I remember correctly couldn't commit to the channel any longer and Drawty I have no idea what happened with him. He was the main producer behind the scenes in the early years and responsible for the design of the stream overlays and graphics until around 2021. An even earlier contributor to the channel Zarah, she left to pursue a career in the media and is now working for MUTV, also being involved with Salford City in some capacity.

Been watching the United Stand since the end of the Jose days and it’s so interesting to see all the people who were on the Channel, and remembering the ones you forgot. Mark created a platform for upcoming influencers to showcase themselves, some abused it and others used it to their own advantage which is okay. I would love to see Flex back but it’s obvious he wants to do it his own way which I can respect.

To be fair, Goldbridge got free/cheap content out of them and they got exposure, publicity and an inside look into how to be successful on youtube. The transaction both sides agreed to by implication, once completed, leaves them even (since both sides agreed to it implicitly if not explicitly) and neither needs to thank the other. With that said, it would still be good form to thank someone who gave you a leg up, even if that someone didn't do it entirely selflessly. Displaying gratitude a) looks classy and b) demonstrates to future partners and collaborators that you understand value and reciprocity. But I'm not surprised: these are all people from what I call the "AFTV rants" era of fan channel content when angry ranting drove views. Firstly, even if you're pretending and exaggerating, it's still got to be in you. Secondly, even the relatively sane like Flex learned the lesson that conflict and drama drives views and engagement.

TUS did fancams for a while but they don't really do them at all anymore and when they did they got a very small fraction of what the rest of the content got. Even then fancams only started long after the channel had a high subscriber count . Also, Rants is an idiot. His channel didn't grow much at all whereas Goldbridge has over 1 million subs on his that's football channel and 1.75 million on the united stand. People can dress it up all they want but all these contributors to the United Stand weren't pulling in the numbers. The majority watch just for Goldbridge. The only person who had any chance to make it work for himself is Flex, and even he has a relatively small channel. Most of these people are deluded into thinking they made the channel or have a similar appeal to Goldbridge. They don't.

Really interesting recap, especially for a non-United fan who tunes in for the Prem watchalongs, football news etc. What I took away from this is that its clear that Mark had a vision, was ambitious, was ahead of his time and has continued to be as new content formats are delivered. He has clearly built a really fantastic platform that has attracted a wide variety of personalities. Who after gaining KZbin experience and notoriety decided to go their own way, all of which is understandable. Nothing wrong with ambition. Thats a good channel in my opinion, although its always nice to have a familiar set of faces that stay too. Wht I like as a viewer is that he and all are opinionated, I don't agree eith everything, and sometimes I vehemently disgree. But it proves that fans can passionately disagree, then at some point shake hands. It also proves how hard Mark and the rest of the T.U.S. peeps work as they deliver really great content every day of the week without losing their fan edge vs MSM content. I think the only missed is Flex and he is irreplaceable when it comes to after match with the fans but the rest didn't really add anything to the channel besides Flex maybe Rants a bit but that's really it. The only part that I didn't like about Mark was his Policies towards his employees, if you were part of his channel, you couldn't have your own and this was obviously to prevent that his employee was bigger than him and thats sad. This video is not really necessary, and most of the people cited here are far from 'iconic'. Only one of them is, and he is enjoying a successful channel of his own today. What is important to know is that The United Stand was started by Mark and still is Mark's channel fundamentally. Therefore, it seems perfectly natural to me for him to get the final decision on who he wants to have on the channel.

Also reasonable for him to enjoy the financial success as he has put in all the hours, paid for all the gear etc long before he could ever be certain he'd make it back, ie took all the financial risk. Robbie from AFTV (whatever you think of AFTV, or all the other ranty/angry fan channels) went into detail on what it took to get the channel going and it's not something the vast majority of people would be willing to do. Just showing up one day on fan cam and thinking you deserve an even slice of the pie is deluded.
