Dear Tim, I've been playing folk music on C descant recorders for more than 40 years. These include 'folk' recorders made to my own design; wide bore descants with truncated foot joints, sacrificing C and C sharp at the bottom to improve responsiveness at the top end. PS. In my experience D whistles are more often played in G major!

Thank you, excellent video. For those who have pointy tents and hit each other with blunted swords, should they want an authentic renaissance or medieval flute, tune the instrument to D Dorian , not D major ( InTune C & F natural not C & F sharp ). Preferably in meantone. Some tuning apps have this temperament.
