If you are living on campus I hope you are in Jester. The rooms look nice now but I was in the west dorm before the renovation. It felt like I was in a low security prison. We didn't even have beds, we had the couch that pulls out to make a shitty bed. Was not comfortable sharing the bed with a girl.

I came across this video when searching on "UT Austin campus tour." I was curious to know what the campus looks like today. I graduated with master's degree from UT Austin in 1996 and lived there (in West Campus) until I moved across the country in 1999. I have never been back to Austin. I do not recognize some of the buildings in the video; they must have been constructed after my departure. In a way, my time there was a long time ago. In another way, it seems like yesterday. Going to UT Austin was a good experience for me, and I'm honored to have this school on my resume. GO HORNS!!!

Don't get this college's thinking process - my friend's son who is a president's scholar nominee( the semi-finalist and finalists are yet to be announced), another friend's daughter who is a national merit scholarship semi-finalist (finalists are yet to be announced) - both got pushed into economics. One had national level competitions and international competitions EC and another had 3 year varsity sport and debate for 4 years as EC. Merit wise both are top notch. If a college does not give these students their first choice and pushes them in second choice how will it attract merit scholars? I agree it gets too many applications but when others with lower or almost no EC got admitted and these hardworking kids got rejected, I started having second thoughts. I'll be keeping other colleges in site when my kid's turn comes.

What I just found out is that if you're 60 years old and you're transferring from another school with a excellent GPA and your a native Texan your money's not good enough to go to school here. They don't mind that I support UT. I donate to the athletic department, I carry season tickets for Sporting events, and I have for nearly 40 years. I go to concerts at Bass Concert Hall, even though the tickets are overpriced. I am good enough to financially support the university, but my money and I are not good enough to go to the school.

Don't apply here if you are an older person. This is what happened to me. I'm a native Texan. I was living out-of-state and going to college late in life. I had to move back home to Austin. I applied to Texas. I have a 4.0. GPA and in one of my essays I gave my age. It's because of my age I was denied a chance to attend the University of Texas. Again, I had a 4.0 G.P.A and I was turned down because of my age, so I should have never have put my age in the essay. If I hadn't, I would probably be a student. So here it is: The University of Texas discriminates against the elderly. Understand this: The University of Texas discriminates against the elderly.

Honestly, it really depends what you're majoring in. I'm 29 and past that college life, but still wish I could've lived that university life. I was more of a CC to online university. So, never had a University life. I can dream and look at promo videos. Then I realized that it's all hype and good marketing. These kids either stressing, or many fail due to partying to much. It's really a glamours lie.
@artinrahideh1229 Жыл бұрын
@@RubyMVmistress idk but I'm pretty sure it's better than دانشگاه فرهنگیان ساری (farhangian sari) it doesn't show pics when you search in English. Our "university" is built right next to a prison, cow house and a stadium( total mayhem as far as sounds go for they execute prisoners once in a while and we wake up at 4 AM with the shouts of their family, execution should always be at the same time as mourning Adhan in ıran). Food is crap, most of the teachers suck and I had to study a full year to enter this place( 1000th amoung 300k total attenders of university entries exam). Worse, 55% of my income has to go to their pockets for this intolerable service. It is gender divided as well. And I'm supposed to be a teacher in schools after this. I'm also 530 KM away from hometown. Already after 8 months I am a smoker. There's no way back for I have to pay back 2× of total money they have payed me( we are officially employed as government employees and have a monthly salary of 150 dollars which is 80,000,000 riyals in ıran and we get 34.000.000 of it which is not even enough to get a pair of shoes+ pants+ shirt)

When I watch these advertisements for universities i cannot but wonder why they ALL feature a representative from each racial and ethnic group to give us a summary of their experiences at that university. What is the purpose of that artificially-put-together and forcefully shoved down our throats policy that ALL university advertisements seem to follow? When you walk into a university student center to get a cup of coffee in between classes how many tables do you see whose occupants are racially or ethnically diverse? How many tables do you find where Whites (Caucasians), Hispanics, East Indians, Asians, and Blacks are all sitting VOLUNTARILY together? We already know that there are intelligent Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, and East Indians in the USA and that many of them are attending college. So what is the purpose of this annoying, and in MY opinion, quite hackneyed policy of having a person from each ethnic and racial group telling us about their sweet and touching college experiences? Heaven knows that we all know that the USA is a diverse country and we see that diversity all around us everyday. So what are these "diversity" university videos supposed to achieve? I sincerely wish that the makers of these videos will be more spontaneous in their choice of students and rather than looking for a Hispanic, an Asian, a Black, a native American, etc. choose students based on their looks, for example, or on some other unique personal qualities which they may possess and if they end up with three Caucasians and one Hispanic, for instance, or four Caucasians and one Asian, so be it. This FORCED and INTENTIONALLY-PUT-TOGETHER diversity garbage is getting nauseating.
