Back in the day when I used to DJ, I would constantly up and down on the pitch adjust slider throughout the mix. Little adjustments here and there. (other dj's would do the same by lightly pressing down on the platter edge, or giving it a slight shove). Pretty clever and pretty troll, but I don't think the subtle change is enough to shake up a good DJ. ;)

I'm with you on this. Think of it more as a critique of the lack of effort that modern day digital DJing has become.

@@Dorincourt a lot of that shit will tempo lock the transients and undo the tempo drift. Really good tip tho; I'm considering throwing tempo drift on all my tracks. ;)

Here's the thing. When you beat match in old CDJs or even vinyl, many times your beat matching was not perfect. Heck, many tracks for the Chicago house era don't hold the BPM, or even disco music that wasn't recorded with a click. So you kinda learn to constantly and very slowly use the jog wheel during the cross fading part. Even if it's old school disco, you'll need to be very aware of these nuances. And as you DJ you realize how tracks flow and how to pick these details. In vinyl this is def. less forgivable because 'jogging' the vinyl will introduce pitch effects, older CDJs like the Pioneer 200 -besides having horrible BPM detectors- had this weird digital stretch sound. You just can't clutch on software.

Where can I listen to the track in the background?

Really nice track in the background. Can we listen to it/buy it somewhere?

Pretty sure my crappy belt driven decks in the early 90s did this all the damn time.

Probably did, yeah

RekordBox from Pioneer DJ does “”live tracking” of the bpm and the displayed bpm reflects that. Not Serato or Traktor- they just find an average bpm of the total song.
