It's been confirmed that Hyper Sonic is among the most epically broken video game characters of all time. If you weren't restrained by a time limit and minimum Ring count, you could literally break the games. However, introducing a villain so OP that Hyper Sonic is legit NEEDED, would be the best possible way to bring it back. Of course, that's also insanely difficult, but it's a start, right? Also, the "too many transformations makes him too much like Goku" excuse is useless, because of the number of other forms they have given him anyway. Hyper Sonic was originally supposed to be in Mania, but Iizuka cut him out. However, the Knuckles area of Lava Reef is a tribute to S3&K, showing the Master Emerald, surrounded by stone copies of the Super Emeralds. Showing that Yes, Hyper Sonic does exist, but he is legit hard to use away from Angel Island and the Master Emerald itself.

I would love to see the form come back, but it would be pretty hard to commercialize in things like toys, shirts, plushies, posters and such due to the colors shifting and making it white or silver would remove a bit of that uniqueness and just make it a Super Sonic recolor.

I think he included it, as Sonic 3 A.I.R was put together by a fan. He also made some changes, in that he slowed down the flickering colors, they now blend from one color to white, and then into the next color and so on. In a recent update it was even adjusted so that you could set flickering effects back to the original if you prefer, OR if the flickering is a problem, such as people with seizure disorders, they now have the option of setting the color change speed to medium or even even very slow. So technically, it has been modified.

Agreed. If you notice the colors on Modern Hyper Sonic for Generations mod, the color transition isn't flickering. Color changing isn't so much the issue with safety, as the vast super majority of video games have things that change color or colors change fairly fast as you move through levels. The safety issue is the rapid flickering speed of he color change. By slowing down the color changes just enough that it no longer flickers it becomes much safer. Sonic3 AIR did a similar thing as well and Hyper Sonic still looks great there too.

@@zud3202 I think the main issue is that Super Sonic already tends to break the game in half, Hyper Sonic is just a redundancy at that point. Unless they replace Super with Hyper, which I highly doubt they'd do.

@@ThundagaT2 Super, Hyper, and any other in game OP'ed power ups for the player to earn were never really meant for balanced play. They're in game rewards that give a feeling of catharsis to achieve. Something fun to play around with. - they should be kept as things that have to be earned in the games however, something that encourages the player to actually get good before they achieve it. At that point the player is good enough that is really doesn't hurt their enjoyment if they become OP'ed. And they shouldn't be forced to use a earnable power up to progress through the game either, that way "Sonic purists" can keep their challenge and balance if they want it. However, your general video game audience tends to like unlockable skins and power ups, even if ridiculously OP'ed or redundant.

And the saddest part about ALL of this is that the Super Emeralds and the Hyper transformations were (somewhat) canon since 1994 and it's all thanks to the Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles Japanese Manual(s)... Until a certain someone kept trying to recton with out of the series with the many excuses. It's pretty obvious that izuka doesn't like the Super Emeralds/Hyper forms at all. Heck if the team behind mania had them scrapped because of this man wasn't already a dead giveaway, then I don't know what is...

In the sonic Mania files you can see the word hyper in the you got the chaos emerald/you can now transform to super font, so yes, it was originally planned, it was also originally planned for both the chaos emeralds and super emeralds to be obtained by blue spheres.. In the files you see the two images of super and chaos so yeah it was 100% planned for Mania.
