Will I still be able to catch up? A💡: You don’t need any previous katana martial arts experience to participate in our lessons. Seki Sensei, the instructor of the online lessons, will carefully instruct you on how to handle the katana regardless of your level. You will also be able to access all the videos of the past lessons so you can watch what every other student has learned. You can also send us videos of your progress, and Seki Sensei will be happy to give you feedback. Q❓: What is the right length of the Iaito (zinc alloy training katana) I should use? A💡: Please purchase an Iaitō at least two blocks longer than the standard length. The standard length for Seki Sensei is about 177cm, so he should use a 2.45 Shaku long katana. However, he uses a 2.6 Shaku-long katana that is supposed to be used by someone 190cm tall. If the katana is too short, it becomes too easy to draw, which is not good for training. Q❓: Can I join even if I belong to a different Ryuha style? A💡: Yes, it’s not a problem at all. The Seki Sensei himself has trained in more than five styles and various other weapons. If you don’t want others to know that you are participating, you can join the online lessons with your camera off. To have the Sensei check your progress, you can send us a video of you practicing. 🗡Join the Online Iaido Training with Seki Sensei🗡 Sign Up Here (One Lesson FREE): www.patreon.com/sekisenseiiaidotraining Interested in taking Iaido lessons directly from the 8th Dan Iaido Master with 40 years of experience in Musō Shinden Ryu, Seki sensei? Wow, what a day. Going on stage to, for the first time ever in front of an audience, take five random strikes from your beloved master, almost failing the seconding strike, having to reatune your mind, and then perfectly countering the third strike to the praise of your beloved master. Then to hear your beloved master say, “Seki-San, it’s time for me to retire. There’s nothing I need to worry about any more.” What an emotional roller coaster. Great story.

This is an older video of yours I just watched. I have to say hearing how hard seki has had to work to get where he is, on top of his natural talent already goes to show that hard work will always win every time. As someone who let sports get him down in high school after injuries and other issues, it’s nice to hear that even a badass like seki has had to work for every inch none of it was given.

I want say that I am someone who doesn't have a dojo anywhere near me, and likely will not before I am far along enough in my years for it to matter, and have been practicing some of the things you teach on your channel (very basic things like the technique behind a basic cut, how to properly wear a hakama and katana, noto, etc), and I would never, even if I practiced alone for the rest of my years and developed solid fundamentals, consider myself anywhere near skilled unless I was able to study under some like Seki Sensei. While there is much to be said for practice and dedication, a life of dedication to both will never compare to a life of dedication to both under the supervision of someone who has already given his life and dedication to such. We likely will never meet, but should you see this, please tell Seki Sensei I said "Domo arigato gozaimashita" with a deep bow. And you, Shogo sanwa, should be proud of all your efforts in bringing these lessons and this knowledge to the rest of the world through this medium we call KZbin. We all thank you both.

I saw that ZNKR seitei was created by a group, and one of the members of that group was from Asayama Ichiden Ryu. Is that individual recognized in Seki sensei's lineage?
@szentineltorony47452 жыл бұрын
Asayama Ichiden-ryu has many branches. Many of them changed the curriculum through the centuries. To my knowledge, Seki sensei represents the "main line" of the ryuha, which is (to my knowledge) is only avaible in Japan. Maybe that member you mentioned is part of a different line on AIR. You should ask that individual next time.
@Theorof2 жыл бұрын
@@szentineltorony4745 I understand that every style of iai has multiple branches. That's why I am asking the question. As for asking the other person, this happened in 1969, so unless you have a time machine that I can borrow it's not possible.
@szentineltorony4745 Жыл бұрын

@@szentineltorony4745 You are not following what I am saying. This a historical event. I wasn't even born when it happened. There was a representative from Asayama Ichiden Ryu who was a member of the group that created the ZNKR seitei, about 10 years after WW2.
