I still have this game on disc (or it's lost) i never got far into the game but or got hooked. I liked the violence.

They also made a very clever marketing campaign back then, where blood would seep through the streets of London. I think I read some people were horrified " yo what's happening!?" is what some said. More to read over here www.eurogamer.net/news011203bloodvertising

I don't know if you got a new microphone, but your audio quality is outstanding. Very nice. I remember when this came out, but never played it. I was a bigger fan of Lucasarts' Gladius. This looks exceptional though. I like the Ray Harryhausen inspiration. Having grown up in the 1980s, Clash of the Titans was one of my favorite movies. Still is. This also shows a lot of what's missing in games today: it's a power fantasy. Your character is fast, strong, and skilled. It's not realistic, but reality is extremely overrated. This is why Space Marine 2 sold two million copies in five days. Great work. I love the interviews and details you put in. It's always the definitive history of a game when you're done with it. Keep up the good work!!!

Hello @1000Servings Yes! I did buy a new one along with an app. I still have to figure out how EQ and all that audio gibberish works as it's like a labyrinth to me. I read in some old IGN/Gamespot blogposts that they preferred Glaudius more than Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance. Even went as questioning "why is Acclaim making a Gladiator game when Glaudius exists." In the end, the aforementioned scored highly than GSOV :/ I agree with reality being overrated. I feel it's one of the reasons that's ruining horror. It has to be real or believable. And by doing so, the magic of marvel is....gone. I think the reason why Space Marine 2 also did well, according to the CEO, they made a fun game. You turn on the game and enjoy your time. There are no politics, drama, or some life changing dialogues . Nope, just slaying and blowing hordes of creatures and..... BLOOOD! (just like the old days, I came to purge the heretics!) On a side note, I'd like to add why I believe Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance 2 may not happen. The game had that arcade feel going for it: go here, slash enemies, obtain power-ups, obtain new items, and slash enemies rapidly to fill your attack meter. So it's this fast-paced gameplay that nudges you to be quick without going way over the top like say Devil May Cry. That type of gameplay is niche. And unless it's turned into say a soulslike.....it may not do well. (I could be wrong) Thank you once again for the kind words. I should be able to post an announcement in the upcoming days about the next video along with what I was doing the past two months.

that generation had a lot of gladiator/Rome theme games. i have not played that many but i always remembered seeing them a lot. Colosseum: Road to Freedom is the one i played most and the game Gladius is the one id like to try out as it looks cool and different. this one does look decent i may try it.

@@BioPhoenixReviews If you have an old system and like turn-based strategy, definitely play Gladius. It's a Lucasarts game, so they spared no expense. Every shield, weapon, and helmet are modeled in game and have descriptions. There's tons of classes and two separate campaigns. I have it on my GameCube and still play it from time to time, but I will say it's probably the worst way to play it, as the controller makes it hard to pull off some of the commands and it has the worst graphics. Still a great game. Be sure to look at a guide though for some of the secret units you can recruit, like Undead Summoner and Minotaur.

@@freeckycakeOG i kinda wish the vehicular combat genre came back some how. there was some fun creativity going on with it

@@BioPhoenixReviews I don't know about vehicular combat specifically, but there's a 3D racing game with RPG elements in development called Resistor that may be interesting.

If there's one thing that being british has taught me it's that British people are great at inventing ideas but terrible at making them work/successful. Game development is no exception.

I don't think the game is that terrible. It had its shortcomings like every video game on existence, sure, yes, but still an entertaining one. We don't have much Gladiator-themed games, anyway. And most of them aren't very good. *remembers Gladiator Begins* I think a sequel would have corrected a lot of the flaws from the original and hopefully introduced more weapons, abilities...etc. Maybe a single player co-op system would have been nice in the sequel!

👌When this came out Gamesmaster mag gave this 35%, they also rated Harry Potter 75% next page 🤭 bloody eeeadiats, I stopped listening to fools like that long ago and now have a very healthy game collection 🎮🕹♥️ P.S. Shadow Of Rome 2005 ( Capcom ) is also criminally underated.

KZbin for some reason deleted my comment.... You've done the right choice. I remember listening to reviewers praising games like Assassin's Creed, GTA V, and Watch Dogs only to be disappointed in the end. Ever since that day, I just took the traditional way.
