@@CarolinaRodriguez-sr8vc Ew, "if it weren't for MY people, your people wouldn't even be speaking Spanish"? What he said was cocky but Latinos are hurt because of the history of your country murdering and COLONIZING his ancestors. If you don't understand how horrible of a thing that is it's because you're not Latin American. My family is from Spain, but having been born and grown up in Mexico, I always experienced strange treatment and privileges (but also more of a risk safety wise) due to me and my family having European features and being very pale (as both families are from Spain but moved to Mexico in the Spanish Civil War, had kids-- my parents-- and started a new life); from growing up in Mexico and looking like that I gained a sense of the 'taboo' relation of race to class in Mexico and my parents and school taught me about the link between all of this and Spain's colonization of Mexico and many other countries and peoples. And it's terrible. When I moved to Canada, I learned so much more about this over the years, both through just time and learning history, and later taking classes by some of the best academics on the subject of Spanish History and Culture (some Spanish and some Latin Americans)-- and they all taught us everything about why this sort of thinking is RACIST (the word ghetto? wtf do you even know what that is and how wrong it is for you to use it like this?) and comes from privilege and a lack of empathy. Don't you understand why he could feel like this with his identity being what it is? Can you honestly say you wouldn't feel like this if the tables were turned and YOUR country was basically raped, people killed, by Spain, having your entire culture changed and knowing it wouldn't have the scars and social power hierarchies and dichotomies if they had just been left to be as they were instead of colonized? I get that none of that is your fault, but your comment could be perceived by someone who lives in a culture embedded with all these wounds from your ancestors and what you are proudly embodying here, and sounding like you're bragging about your whiteness (a power hierarchy and system of DOMINATION that has destroyed the lives and identities of MILLIONS of people, maybe even billions, over history, and you're surprised when someone gets mad, and even FURTHER, respond like THAT? If you don't realize that you're ignorant, and calling our Spanish "ghetto" is beyond disgusting for soooo many reasons omg. It's actually hilarious omg I literally just finished reading your comment and started laughing because I can't believe how you don't realize you're literally being the definition of arrogant right now by telling people they're ignorant and uneducated when to me and anyone in my university (I go to one of the top 20 research universities in the world, in Canada) would be cringing at your comment. You sound ignorant as hellll and everything you're saying is super cringey and problematic. It's sad and funny at the same time actually. King Felipe was very blond as a child. His great grand mother, Queen Victoria Eugenia was Queen Victora's of UK grand daughter. His mother is related to the Danish royal family. This might help those confused about the light hair color of kings's daughters. There are a lot of people with light hair, blue eyes in Spain. Also, just to clarified the titles, the only princess in Spain right now is Leonor, princess of Asturias ( title giving to the heirs to the throne). Her sister is Infanta Sofia. Their mother was princess Letizia until her husband became the king, then she became the queen. The king's sisters have never been princesses. They have been Infantas, so Infanta Elena and Infanta Cristina. I know because I am from Spain.

Not only is it nice to visit, but it is pretty cheap to go and take a tour which comes with these things that give u a guide and a historic fact about each room u visit. For those stress out because monarchy is so antique and old fashion form of government....well....technically they are a parliamentary constitutional monarchy, which mean they have a democracy and vote for a Prime Minister just as UK does, they also have a Senate and a Congress whose members are elected too, and a Supreme Court. Plus pro-bono they have a King which symbolizes enduring unity and permanence, history and culture with a little small political power which come from the respect the position withhold. For me it sounds way better from whatever republic USA with fake democracy have and is. No political system is perfect but Spain seems to have been managing their economical situation even tho is not all wins. Better have leaders who encourage empathy than leaders that does all the contrary. Ps for the producers: Spain royal family have an even lower budget not surpassing the 5-10 millions

Im spanish and thats not how it is, Spain has managed the economical crisis by making cuts on education, health care and other primary needs, the unemployment rates are so high its normal for spanish youth to have to leave the country looking for work, and new currupt politics and parties are being discovered every day almost, we dont have much industry, some regions of Spain live off of turism, like Andalucía, were I'm from, and pretty much every person whose not middle to high class is tired of the monarchy. They seem progressive but to many spaniards it's associated with fascism and old ways
@maxpuente62916 жыл бұрын
Look you have to separate politics from the form of state. Spanish political system might be okay, but its no perfect system, just as fine as germany's or england. The standart european. But there's corruption everywhere, we arent managing things very well. The best example is the problem with catalonia. And wheter if we are a republic or a monarchy wouldnt interfire in that. But i personally think a change is necessary as monarchies are essentially unfair
