Such a CLASSIC show! One of my favorites to watch in syndication as a child! So glad to hear a wise man such as Demond Wilson speak his mind in a recent interview. Very healthy and inspiring! ❤

TV was the best[to me]back then. Every time SANFORD & SON aired my Mom brought out the snacks and we'd sit and watch together. I have a VHS set right now 😁 need a VCR though. I can look at this show like its brand new. COFFINS FOR SALE is my fave episode.

@brandonpage70877 ай бұрын
I grew up with Sanford & Son, thanks to my dad, & i do thank him for introducing me to it! I will always love this show, & will never tire of watching the episodes, though i've seen them hundreds of times, lol. Wow, it is shocking to find out that all the cast would be high as a kite, during filming!! Particularly Rollo, as Nathaniel, in real life, was the complete antithesis of Rollo, & from what i've read, certainly didn't sound like someone who liked to get high. Another fun fact, not mentioned in the video, is that most of the actors who played Fred's friends, sans Whitman Mayo, were all real life friends of his, from his days on the chitlin' circuit. Also, whenever they'd break out into song, on the show, those bits were based off real life acts they would perform in the streets, before becoming famous. You also forgot to mention Slappy White, who played recurring character Melvin. He & Redd were inseparable, during their days on the circuit. Slappy was his comedy partner. Also, my dad introduced me to Sanford, as well, & i became a fan. Idk if it's streaming anywhere, but Sanford is available on dvd, for anyone interested in watching it.

My Grandparents used to watch Sanford and Son faithfully. My man Redd Foxx always kept us laughing and he could roast you in a comedy battle. Another fun fact in 2004 Wu-Tang Clan member Masta Killa sampled the theme song from Sanford and Son. The song and video is called "Old Man" with The RZA and Ol Dirty Bastard. 👐👐👐

This was well put together but, it's a bit inaccurate. Eric Monte the creator of Good Times, The Jeffersons and what's happening to name a few, that suggested to Norman Lear use a Black cast for the steptone and son remake. And, it was also Eric Monte not Cleavon Little who suggested that Redd Foxx play the part of the father in the American version. Now, I don't fault the authors of this video for the misinformation in lieu of the not mentioning Eric Monte's contribution. Mr.Monte has purposely been written out of television history because, of racist politics. I suggest that anyone reading my comment simply type Eric Monte's name in any search engine and, you will discover his many contributions to television and film to which he ultimately didn't get the credit he deserved.
