For those of you wondering which songs are in this medley, the US Army Herald Trumpets open with a fanfare rendition of “America the Beautiful.” The US Army Band “Pershing’s Own” follows with the Washington Post March by John Philip Sousa. After a brief cadence, the USAF Ceremonial Brass performs another Sousa march, El Capitan. The combined bands conclude the medley with a stellar rendition of “Seventy-Six Trombones” from Meredith Willson’s musical The Music Man.

It's a shame I didn't know about this, though it may have been a private event. I was there that day, not too far from the Washington monument. I had marched in the parade with a marching band. It was quite the once in a lifetime experience! The fireworks were amazing too!!!

John Philip Sousa’s “El Capitan” march. At first it sounded like “A Spoonful of Sugar” from Mary Poppins.
