Indirect flights are great. Usually muuuuch cheaper than direct flights and you often get an all expenses paid stopover somewhere, which is nice. My last trip to the US was via Qatar, and the stopover there was an amazing experience.

Routes not mentioned and potential carriers: SEA to ATH (Delta seasonal summer ops) Currently no west coast flights in USA to ATH SEA to DEL (Delta to squeeze out Air India in Vancouver; Seattle has a huge Indian population) SEA to Australia (Delta this would put the squeeze on Qantas and Air Canada in Vancouver) BOS to PVR/SJD (Alaska could alternate these flights between destinations) My two cents
@InTheMood-fi3bh17 сағат бұрын
IMO, delta or JetBlue would be better suited to cover services between them, as both have a larger presence (more slots) at BOS

Big surprise Budapest is not on the list. Budapest has 2-3 daily flight to China/S. Korea but none to the US. Before covid for many years Delta, American and LOT served JFK- Bud route. I think that would be a big win if they would restart these routes and maybe also MIA-BUD or LAX- BUD.
@AviationCommercials10 сағат бұрын
Pre-pandemic there was even conversations about LOT coming here to BOS. Crazy, that there is no nonstops from the USA now.

I'm surprised why San Diego doesn't have any routes on the list; There is a huge unserved market internationally here because a lot of people do not want to drive 2 hours or take a 30 minute flight to LAX

What counts as a connection? Does a train from Newport to Reading, Hayes & Harlington or Paddington, then corresponding bus or train to Heathrow, then a long-haul flight count?

I think most of them can be served but with payload restrictions but means like increasing business class seats creating a onboard bar lounge thought emirates a380 one would not be possible and creating a special economy with light seats though Airbus should focus on increasing range of a350 though they have increased it till 16,482km and the real reason nobody takes air India is it’s some planes being outdated while some people want to relax midway while others want a us carrier who provides them with transit.

XLR this XLR that, what’s with people thinking that transpacific narrowbodies will become a reality? Routes from the northwest to Japan are barely within range
@HopSkipRun2218 сағат бұрын
I dont really think the XLR would help much in this situation. The MIA v BOS example they gave is pretty good. MIA has more passengers and is longer but those flights produce less profit when compared to BOS. The average fares for the route is the bigger issue . If you can fill a 773 or 789 why bother deploying a XLR. Certain routes and certain destinations have lower average fares that make the direct route less lucrative.
@BobFirth14 сағат бұрын
As I understand it the XLR has a lower seat costs than the wide-bodies. So if the airlines are getting a lower yield of because most of the plane has coach flyers doesn’t it make sense to cover these thin routes with the plane that has the lower seat costs?
