Personally, in my own headcanon, I prefer to believe that sooner or later, Soze would’ve had David Kujan, Jeffery Rabin (the other cop who partially interrogated Soze) and possibly even Jack Baier (the guy played by Gus Fring’s actor, Giancarlo Esposito) all killed at some point. I know he was lying throughout the movie, but I would like to believe that he really is as evil and violent as he claims, which is why I subscribe to this darker theory that he killed whatever police officers and detectives he needed to in order to cover his tracks. But that’s the beauty of the film. Everyone can have their own headcanons about how they interpret Soze’s story and what happened before, during or after the movie.

there's actually a few hints that verbal is soze before it's revealed 👇 DISCLAIMER: I’ve watched this movie like 20 times to figure all these out lol, I’m not a hero 😂 1. sözel (soze) = verbal in turkish 2. Verbal says "he's on his way down" (mcmanus) when they plan to kill kobayashi, why would he say that when kobayashi is coming up? 3. Verbal is completely shocked when kobayashi mentions Edie, Verbal didnt want keaton knowing that & then when they all see Edie in the room Kobayashi only looks back at verbal with a look of assurance towards verbal 4. In the scene where agent Kujan is yelling at Verbal asking if he is sure that Keaton is dead, Verbal slips up and says "I did, I did kill Keaton", but Kujan was too caught up in yelling to hear it. 5. Soze is seen wearing a gold watch and lighting a cigarette with a gold lighter, verbal is also seen with those. 6. Verbal describes witnessing Keaton's death to Kujan by hiding behind a bundle of rope, and as he is describing it the camera shows the rope and there is nobody looking through it. 7. Keaton says "I can't feel my legs, Keyser"....verbal is a cripple or at least pretends to be 8. When one of em asks “what language is that?” & Keaton answers “Russian, I think.” Verbal corrects him and says “Hungarian.” Verbal knew because of his business or his past with Hungarian ppl in the mob.

But I must admin that I suspected Verbal from the beginning, since I already saw "Se7en" and I knew that Kevin Spacey is usually the evil bastard.

Just watched the ending of The Usual Suspects for about the 20th time and it still gives me chills. What a brilliant piece of filmmaking, the 90s had some truly original and unique movies like Pulp Fiction, Suspects, Seven, Reservoir Dogs, Being John Malcovich, etc. Nowadays we get only bs superhero movies and remakes.

I saw this opening weekend with a few mates. Before social media, we only heard through friends it was almost Tarantino-esque ending but better. The end when Verbal started walking straight again, there was large gasp from the WHOLE audience and when the car drove off, the whole audience fell dead silent. Noone dared breath. It was as if though those final deep cello notes, where like knives that stabbed each one us in the back. We never saw it coming....

This, Rashomon and Fight Club are propably the best examples of an unreliable narrator. The one where the story tricks you to think that what you're witnessing is what really happens, but it's revealed to be told from a perspective of a character who is lying, doesn't know everything, or is mentally insane and just imagining things..

I had a similar experience. We’d been discussing the actor in question during an acting class when somebody asked if I’d seen the Usual Suspects. I told them I hadn’t, and they recommenced that I check it out. So I had [said actor] on the brain when I sat down to watch the movie. In the opening scene there’s a conversation between Keaton and Keyser Söze, and I recognized Söze’s voice. So then I get to the end of the movie, and I don’t recognize “the big reveal” as a big reveal because I thought his identity was common knowledge.

Two things earlier in the movie that give Verbal away that he's Keyser Soze is 1. When Agent Kujan lunges at Verbal, he lifts his left arm that is supposed to be limp. And 2. towards the beginning of the interrogation there's a point where Agent Kujan is behind Verbal while the camera focuses on Verbal's face, you see Verbal grinning because he knows he's deceiving Kujan, but drops it once Kujan goes back in front of him
@TheKeyser943 жыл бұрын
You are ignoring all the little times that Verbal was proving Kujan with little lies to see if he fall for it, when he realise that Kujan is falling for it, he get more comfortable and began his tale. Also in the point were the lawyer is introduce, you had the feeling that the real Verbal Kint, is swimming with the fishes, and realise why Keyser chose his identity, basically because he was a petty criminal, expendable.
