This is most likely technical nerdy shit, but it most likely will, and I hope that it does, save someone’s life (and their digital presence), since I know these UTTP freaks by heart in nature during my Google+ days, and have seen what they did to my older friends, those that I haven’t spoken for nearly a decade, which not only made me melancholy, but all rights pissed off. As someone who has learned a bit (and somewhat a lot) about digital security, and Op-secs online throughout my life using a Windows XP computer at the age of (literally) 4 years old, this is most likely security breach via the browser's cookies, be it Firefox or Google Chrome. This is mostly common by having the attacker not only having access to your machine by some shady application, but also accessing your browser data, history, and cookies themselves via RAT, which is the likely scenario of how Kris kept getting hacked. Considering that this would happen mostly with Windows users, Kris might have downloaded something or had something suspicious running on their desktop, likely knowing or unlikely knowing about it, with the attacker breaching in and having access to the cookies saved from within the browser, or worse the 2FA if the person themselves were using a 2FA extension on the browser of their choice (or application). Considering that Windows is the most dominant OS in the PC market, next to Mac OS X (macOS) and Linux slowly rising, this isn’t surprising that the UTTP fellas would target those that use Windows and most likely have no common knowledge about digital security, and with OS X and Linux being a bit tougher, if not, somewhat impossible. Last I recall since Windows 8.1 (and Windows 10/11), there’s an option to reset your PC but only wiping any and all applications and third-party changes while keeping your files intact. If the person however wants to wipe Windows COMPLETELY and reinstall it, they can, but have to take consideration that they should backup their files before they do so. With Linux (Mostly Ubuntu, Mint, Arch and other distros), you could reinstall the OS, if it’s the same without any changes, but most of the time, you’d have the option to wipe the entire drive and reinstall the OS, basically wiping any data you’ve made in the ext4 or BTRFS partition. With MacOS, you can reinstall the OS, but you’d have to head over to Recovery Mode for that to happen, depending on what device you own. And obviously to prevent having your digital fingerprint snatched easily like that again, you’d have to take consideration in locking down your accounts to the extreme degree, by that I mean enabling security, 2FAs, mobile authentication, security codes, etc., most importantly to *change your passwords to something way stronger, keep it in a notebook* and suspend any suspicious online-activities from anyone who’s using a device that you don’t own or do not recognize in the list. I’ve done this before in my lifetime, and I urge that hopefully, people would do the same, and learn more about digital security to prevent themselves from getting hacked by these scumbags yet again.
