The Value of Business Analysis

Whether you are interviewing for a business analyst job or seeking a promotion or just trying to gain credibility for the business analyst role in your organization, you need to be able to clearly articulate the value of business analysis. And the value YOU can create as a business analyst.
All too often, stakeholders and even those who manage business analysts feel we slow things down, add more cost, and create "unnecessary" documentation.
Of course, this is not true! There is an incredible return on your investment in business analysis, and good business analysis adds a lot of value to your organization.

From what I've watched so far, a Business Analyst is basically a developer who has obtained critical thinking skills and constantly is analyzing and improving User Experience through feedback they actively go out to seek. They act as a intermediate to help smooth things over. And they are a leader and role model that the others look up to, a charismatic person that doesn't play the blame game. They are here to make things better, not punish those that are struggling.

That was very interesting. Good interview fodder as well. I like to become a trusted advisor. A neutral go-to person when people are having problems or a great idea. Also BA can play a big role in change management.

Very interesting presentation. I am interested to know what you did at that contract where business was printing out so many docs and reworking them and printing them again. How did you clear the issue for them or make them understand the new process or what the new process involved?

We started by understanding their business process and why they were printing the docs, then found a way for them to use the tool to accomplish this without printing.
