I feel like humans have strayed to far from what we were born to do. Feeling makes you alive most people don't even get to feel hot or cold because they're numbed by their own home. You don't know what comfort really is till you feel discomfort.

Please show a stormy day inside your van. I think that would be the scarest time to live in the van. Of course Im in Florida and the humidity & heat would make me miserable. At least with cold u can put more clothes on but when its hot u can only take so much off and get any cooler. The bedt way to make vanlife more manageable I'd think would be to chase the good temperatures. But u will still get those day when all is not well Im sure. I still dig the vanlife. Its just not something I could do for many reasons but thats why I watch you guys. So I can luve the life thru u until we hit the road fulltime in a travel trailer. Now for us thats the way to do it. Either way the freedom and living life is what it is all about man. Love living life. Much 💘 Chrome & Disco. 🐝Safe & God Bless. P.S. The gray is lookin 🔥.lol😘😜

You are right, Chrome! In a word, toughen up, buttercup! I'm reminded of a person Dispersed Camping, saying, most overweight people lose weight because they are dealing with the rhythm of nature 24/7. Today, I ran into one of his videos when he first started out, 'On the road " lifestyle. He is right, he has lost about half of himself during the years.. Not sitting around anymore,, he's walking the dog up hills and down hills, unpacking and packing it up.

SJ R Vanlife is not a sediment lifestyle. You got hunt for water, & if you have no toilet you got get in & out of the van many times daily & walk to the toilet. You can park in beautiful scenery which compels you to get out & walk some more. If you don't have a shower, you got to get out & walk to the Gym or where ever you shower. You got get groceries more often as you can't keep too much supply so you got to walk some more. Wow I'm winded just chatting about these task / chores. I don't know how you cannot lose weight.

I run a diesel heater nice hot dry air, never had any issues with condensation. But you are right there is no need to keep it running all night when you are warm under your blankets. I heat up the van nice and warm and turn off the heater when i go to bed. I must admit a diesel heater is a true luxury, but there are reliable cheaper models availeble then the major brands ;) Been watching your videos for a while now (mostly on my other account), i'm no beginner but i love to watch them anyway 😉you are a great story teller 👍

Hi, I am over 50 and bought a small, old cottage which I am (still) doing up. I spent last year from Dec until Summer there, tried several heatsystems, incl. propane, which did not help at all because I removed all the old Lehm (Mud?) from the historical house, so no insolation. Basically inside temp was roughly like outside. Cooldes was minus 16 degrees and when I accidently spilled a cup of tea it was frozen as it reached the floor. If it is cold u can only heat the outside, which was not possible in my case or the inside, so to speak. I had 2 sleeping bags, several duvets and what saved me where 2 warm bottels which had to be refilled every 2-3 hours. I was wearing a woollen hat in bed (no sexy sight) but had the most natural experiences which are still stazing with me. For example, if I did not have a dog which I had to feed, to walk ect. I am pretty sure I would have gone into some sort of light hibernation, only standing up for eating and WC, the body reacts to the outside temperatures if not disturbed by things like pets, children or work. And mostly spiritual I experienced the earth is breating. For example I was checking my phone and temp around midnight it would have been x degrees. 2 hours later it felt warmer at around 2 am ! and when I checked temp was up 1 degree towards the morning it was falling again and then with sunrise it rised again. I have to work now, otherwise I would love to have another winter there. It was hard but wonderful (in hindsight) :)

another thing to think of is once you have battery power either jackery or regular batteries is a small de humidifier >75 watts constant draw usually even less and then you are free to keep your heat on all night of that sense but youd be better off going for a off brand esbro or whatever the diesal heaters are called 200~$ or name brand 1200~$ but food for thought.

Also living in a van in Vancouver, this weather kills! Getting up in the middle of the night to take a leak feels like a venture into the arctic man. Really makes you appreciate the warm shower at the gym that much more! Many Van dwellers have some type of (usually black) curtain-system to separate the sleeping area from the front seats. They say it keeps the back sleeping area WARMER (front windshield is a lot of exposed glass ) and it provides PRIVACY day or night. Others totally black out the windshield and side door windows with a thin black foam attached to reflective, like on your ceiling. Curious, to know why you chose NOT to this?

Great video, man! Even as far south as The Carolinas and in September, I’ve been cold in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. But, like you said, a zero sleeping bag (or two), along with bedding to insulate underneath you, and you’re good to go. Also, by running the van warm at night, just before you turn in helps too. Cold in the a.m.? Start the van and let it warm up! Best wishes to ya, Chrome, along with Disco...

Oh Hun, my car can only record to -23 degrees Celsius and it can get even colder. So yeah...we got extreme temperatures for summer and winter (even tho winter comes 2 months late now because of the climate change). I'm kinda afraid to know how cold it actually is...wanna do van life but we don't have cheap solar, heating and all devices needed for my minimum confort in a van (warmth, toilet etc) and a lot of things other countries have (public water faucets and showers or 24/7 gyms). I'd only use it to not pay rent and get a job, not travelling (car gas money and money in general). Really enjoying your vids and positive mindset tho. That, your van's simplicy and because you are from Canada (supposedly cold but turns out it's less cold :))) so that temperature comparison plan got shut down) is why I'm started watching. *pets Disco*

Can't say we covered the Canadian Climate that well back in high school...or at all -memory fail- :)) 'Canada=brr, cold, close to perm. winter' is all we 'know' without fact-checking...even if that's not necessarily true. Most videos I've seen on van life & co. are from warm/warm-ish climates so it's hard to draw a useful comparison. I get what you mean. Hope that pop doesn't get ya! :)

Wow I seen snow coming out your mouth; you should wear shower shoes when you use the public showers, flip flops. You should get that small wood burning stove that I seen other people with.

I've hated camping as an adult. But, throw in NO RENTAL PAYMENTS, and I'm okay with camping and being a bit uncomfortable!

I'm laughing because I'm in Southern CA hills. It got down to 26° last night here. We also ( me snd the Lab who thinks shes a Chihuahua) have 2 light weight down comforters. She sleeps under ALL night. . Lol Ive been in my camper shell for almost 2 years. Almost ready to grow up into a van. This was a really informative video. When you figure your sleeping inside a metal box of course its cold. But until you experience it you really have no idea. Lol Can you really have a wood stove in your van ? Eek!

Hey I was curious about two things. Where does your dog stay while you are in the gym? And when you wake up in the morning and all the moisture on the inside of windshield has frozen what is the best way to remove it? I've struggled with this for a while
