Wow, you "got the ultimate Vatican experience because we were 5 feet away from the Pope", so lucky! As a history buff as well as a lover of architecture and arts, this video is so overwhelming to me in many positive ways despite the facts I've visited Vatican museum 3 times so far. I hope you've seen La Pietà di Michelangelo inside Vatican, one of my most favorite artworks. Italy is my most favorite country in the world, where I've been over a dozen of times, most likely it'll be my retirement country in the future. It's always my wish to drive through entire country to have the ultimate experience of Italy with the locals, food, wine, nature, history, arts and far more. I'll be in Europe in 2 weeks, hopefully I can make it to Italy again. By the way, the weather is so gorgeous as your first video in Rome, the Eternal City! I'm looking forward to your travel in Croatia!

Rome is a wonderful and beautiful place. Italy is a beautiful place. You were blessed in seeing the pope, what a wonderful surprise! My husband and I honeymooned in Italy in 1981 and toured the Vatican, Rome, Trevi Fountain, Florence Venice, Mulan, Piza and lots and lots more. We'll never forget the experience of Italy. It will always be crowded at the Vatican, especially in the summer months. So much has been added and remodeled since we were there. You couldn't even go inside the Colosseum because of the ruins, just lots of feral cats living there. Nice video, brought back loving memories. Thank you!

Rome has not changed much since my first visit in 1997. I was not as lucky as you are in terms of the Pope during my visits to Rome. The tradition of a Wednesday public audience does not always guarantee that the visitors could see the Pope. Thank you so much for sharing your Roman visit. I love the Eternal City.

When you were climbing the spiral staircase where it was narrower the higher you climbed - reminded me of climbing a similar narrow staircase to the crown of the Statue of Liberty (Ellis Island, NY). As Carol said - claustrophobia big time! We had to convince our 10 yr old son to keep going because there was no option to turn around to go down. Unforgettable experience - not wanting to repeat it.

Welcome to my beautiful country and hopefully you'll love it ❤ Please don't focus just on Dubrovnik area because there are so many other places to see: Krka national park, Plitvice national park, birthplace of Nikola Tesla in Smiljan, Istria region (wine region), capital of Croatia Zagreb, Slavonia and Zagorje region... I could go on and on. Make sure not to miss the island such as Korcula, Brac, Losinj, Cres, Krk (with it's wineyards and the smallest street in the world!). Pula in Istria region also has a colloseum build by the Romans 😊 Can't wait for your next videos ❤

@rheffner36 ай бұрын
You should have taken a tour. You visit the museum and then get into the Sistine Chapel and Saint Peters with no hassle. Well worth the 50 euros or so that it costs. And did you do the coolest thing to do at the Vatican? There are two spots. One of each side of the big square where if you stand on them, the multiple columns disappear and you can only see one. Pretty cool. Ah, you did take a tour. lol. Scusi. The Map Room is the coolest place in the museum. Saying that as a geographer.

Only 800 + - actual residents , strictly Papal ? Place looks big enough to house many more . Who cleans the place , cooks all the food ? Can imagine what is must have been like when these places were built , the mosaics are labour intensive . And way back then , they built those domes , and then painted them :-) A good few metres in the air :-) Domes are cool , are they easy to make ? St Pauls , a couple in Malta , Grand Mosque in Cairo is huge , St Marks in Venice , days of creation etc :-)
