Appreciate the love in these comments, this was by far the deepest I have ever gone. I’ve been trying to get Cam to come out here so we can do some real life stuff. Also, Cam was such an awesome sport about everything. Zwift is full cheats and even though I had a massive effort here, he never once questioned my weight or blamed the tech for anything. He’s a class act in my book.

I remember tuning in live to watch this. Cam on the iPad, VC on my phone. It was epic and a real moment for Zwift racing. This was when the world sat up and took notice of Zwift racing

Quite curious to see that he set his PBs in a zwift event and couldn't come remotely close to those numbers close before or after it. Very big think.

Zwift is always difficult to trust as there is a lot of room to easily cheat. But I did similar power before this and definitely have done better power since then. In this race I did 340 for 40 mins, I had done 350 for 20 before this and in 2019 was able to do 383 on the real road for 20min. I also just recently achieved a 5wk ftp on the real road. So I understand it’s easy to want to hate on this effort, but it’s just factually not true that I have “not even come close” to repeating this since this.

@@TheVCAdventures well yes, well done, but that wasn’t my point. My point was that you didn’t do an effort close to it around that time. To define that, let’s say a month before it and a month after it. I usually get my PBs in the summer after having trained in the months leading up to it. Whereas in the winter I usually can’t even do my ‘summer FTP’ over 20 min because I take a whole month off in October/November. There is an argument to be made for ‘having an awesome day.’ But if I look at Zwiftpower, it was long standing as a 20min PB and was standing alone as quite a peak for a long period of time and wasn’t matched up until recently. Bringing outdoor numbers in makes it only more confusing as the vast majority of people won’t be able to produce the same power indoors as they can outdoors. Maybe I am a little too skeptical when it comes to nice stories - and this certainly is one, I’ll give you that. But if there is hard data that goes against that, I can’t help but be skeptical.

I disagree. He tapered, was super fresh. Actually thinking your going to win will also give you a few extra watts. Plus the indoor power discrepancy your talking about is because of heat. I remember VC had really upped his ventilation and its a basement in winter in the mountains so im assuming pretty cool temp. I don't think its as far fetched as you claim.
