The VENTURES are: NOKIE EDWARDS (lead guitar); BOB BOGLE (bass guitar); DON WILSON (rhythm guitar); and MEL TAYLOR (drums). Matt: THANK YOU for this post - you are quite correct - this is the exact version form the "On Stage" album, w/o the clapping, screaming overdub. Great stuff! The "On Stage" album stuff from Japan *was* live, except for the nonstop screaming, but other than that was legit. The "British" and "American" stuff was absolutely overdubbed, announcers and screaming, yes.

It will always be a puzzle to me why they were not inducted into the RR Hall of Fame decades before 2008. They were the inspiration for so many RR stars inducted long before them.

You are absolutely right!...I'd say...politics!...kept them out..meaning,...the R&R Hall of Fame...was more interesting bands...who had NO hits!...like the Ramones, etc... Hey!...Johnny Rivers isn't even in!...Can you believe that??...EVERY 3 Piece band that came after...owe him for popularizing...the 3-piece band...Plus, he did covers but also originals...produced /discovered Jimmy Webb, 5th Dimension, and others...and in his 70's..is STILL touring. !

You are quite correct. 48 years a guitarist, and the Mosrite is the finest solid body I've ever played - but it is a very, very distinctive instrument. IMHO, it is perfect for rock instrumental work, but is not a terribly versatile guitar otherwise. I love mine, (dearly!) but use it only for instrumental rock work. For that, it was worth every penny I spent for it.

The Ventures first started using the Mosrites in their Ventures in Space album. Earlier albums featured the Fenders.

Mosrites are far from crappy. However, they are not for everyone. Their thin necks and overdriven tone are very distinct.

No estoy de acuerdo a éste comentario. El sonido caracteristico de The Ventures fué dado por sus guitarras Mosrite . Solo hay que escuchar el album Knock Me Out y Walk Don't Run 2 en dónde se escuchan estas maravillosas guitarras tan caracteristicas de éste grupo. Nokie aprovechaba excelentemente las caracteristicas de ésta marca de guitarras y que además son muy diferentes a cualquier otra guitarra incluidas las guitarras Fender. Decir Mosrite en los 60s era decir The Ventures e incluso Semie Moseley bautizó uno de sus modelos como modelo The Ventures.
