@@Martin.Lewis.. I've ridden thoroughbreds since I was 5, have ridden in a charity race a Newbury and been involved in racing for over 40 years, so feel I know enough to make a judgement. I'd expect nothing less from the 2nd best jockey in the world riding for one of the best stables. Just like the tale, Troy is wooden and will not be suited to dirt tracks in USA and hope he doesn't get a sticky end like Landseer or Hawkwing

COT was very green and only seemed to go into top gear crossing the finish line. Looked like he was just cantering up until 50 yards to go where he kicked into turbo. AF got the perfect trip so no excuses. Cot extending lead through the line. Stablemate Illinois who was ckearly gaining fast on AF in 1m 3f trial maybe the only horse to get within 5 lengths of COT this year. Clearly now COT will be pointed to Breeder's cup classic as he has won everything on turf.

2nd horse let the winner go 2 lenghts clear when cantering, serves the owner right for changing jockeys.

Your absolutely correct why they changed the jockey is unbelievable and considering the ride he gave Af it's no wonder he's never won around Epsom. Dreadful.
@bingbangboom69903 ай бұрын
Ambient friends had 3 furlongs and was well beaten with COT extending lead crossing line. COT raced cert green in fact. I suspect AF was a worry if he could stay over 1m 4f. As illinois obeein other horse would clearly have beaten him in trial if 1m 4f over
@stephenc65973 ай бұрын
Watch the race again, you're talking rubbish. Watching the race I was thinking Rab was sitting for too long, I could see COT coming down the inside with a run. But, when Rab pulled him out past the loose horse, he initially gained on COT and got to his quarters before COT pulled away from him. Rab Havlin gave AF a tactically copybook ride, he was where he needed to be right through the race. He was simply beaten by a better horse.
@bingbangboom69903 ай бұрын
Sore loser. AF probably saving ground because it couldn't stay 1m 4f. Clearly another sore loser English punter who would back a xamel rather than an coolmore horse. Keep losing. I knew from trial that AF would not stay 1m 4f. Another 20 yards and illinois ( O'brien second string) would have passed him.

Mssrs Gredley need to admit they made a wrong call and put a winning jockey (Callum Shepherd) back on Ambiente Friendly. To persist in a losing jockey is a sign of either a losing mentality or mental illness.

There are plenty of much older horses still in training but at this moment in time I can't think of any of them that would be able to give him weight and a beating. The only horse he might have problems beating is Opera Singer who hasn't been stepped up in distance yet but is almost certainly capable of performing to a much higher standard once she is extended out to those middle distances. I wouldn't be confident that COT could give her 5 pounds.
