Got mine for $ 7.84. The DZO cup is better and comes with a lid as well and fits both. Another good option is the Pathfinder small cook cup and sleeves over the Stanley set almost directly with less than a 1/2" space at the bottom. This is my preferred setup. Two cook setups that mesh together perfect with lids. You can do a lot with those two.

Pathfinder cup slides over the Stanley and is part of my set. I slide the lids on top of one another and strap it all together with a velcro strap with all the steel wool and can opener, etc. Inside. I like the plastic cups so, I keep them in there with some tea as well. Nice tight little package.

Dude, that was terrific. You provided so many ideas and variations. Goat Mumbler turned me on to these Stanley cooksets and many others have sold me on them. And I like the cups as well. Good to have for sharing with another person. I haven't purchased one yet, but will when I can and they're on sale again. I saw Steven Kramms videos on making rice based recipes. In order to get some practice I figured I could use them at home.... on the stove of course.... as I don't intend on creating an open pit fire in the kitchen :)

At 7:04 in your video you show how the fuel canister drops into the cup. So I bought the stove, cook set, and fuel canister. However my fuel canister doesn't go all the way down. It stops at where the cup slightly shrinks down near the top. I bought a different fuel canister than what you show. What I bought is a Gas One canister. It has a diameter of 3.553" at its base. Great video with lots of info - thank you!
@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival4 жыл бұрын
I guess all fuel canisters are not created equal...
@carmenolivieri2793 жыл бұрын
It is true that there are slight differences in the dimensions of isobutane fuel canisters. As you have learned, some have a base diameter that is too large to allow the canister to fit all the way to the bottom of this Stanley cook kit.

That Stanley adventure cook set is awesome. I don't use the 2 cups that came with mine though. Instead I put a can of fuel like the one you used, old GI style can opener, a small Gerber folder, small bottle of camp soap, a compressed camp towel (un openned it's about the size of a poker chip) a piece of green scrubby, a BSR 3000 stove and it's nested in a Walmart version of that GSI cup. I also bought a 3 pack of the diddy bags at Walmart and use the smaller if the 3 to store the whole thing in. Everything I could possibly need right there in one package.

Kind of a late reply but I’ve recently been playing with a Stanley adventure cook set myself. I learned from waypoint survivals channel that you can separate the green cups from two and make 4. They are double wall cups you just need to carefully saw around the top of each cup to separate them then you’ll have 4 cups that still nest. A little sandpaper and a lighter to clean up the rough edges and then you’ve doubled your cups
@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival11 ай бұрын
Cool, but I have no need for 4 cups when out in the woods by myself lol

I keep trying to talk myself into changing the cook set, but this really is the best option for me. It's good for 1 or 2 people, so whether I'm solo or not I don't have to swap out systems. The only thing I don't like is that the GSI handles don't work well as a coffee mug, but I also like the flexibility of the pot handles.

Yeah, it’s been the core of my one man grab and go kit for a while now. It’s cheap, durable and simple. I put a bandanna around the pot then nest it in the cup then put the whole thing in a cut off cotton sock with a stainless steel fork and spoon. Solid, cheap and easy. The bandanna has a lot of uses. I’ll lay it out as a mat for stuff while I’m getting ready to cook, fold it to use as a pad for grabbing handles, cleaning up, pre-filtering and boiling water, etc…

My fravorite kit, by far, is the military canteen cook set, but I've really enjoyed the Stanley Kit, as well. Though I am no a lover of the green cups. I don't like plastic in the woods.; But as versatile as the Stanley Kit is, I keep finding even more ways to use the Pathfinder Bottle kit. The complete version that has two cups, two lids, an alcohol burner, a stove, a pot stand, and a fish mouth spreader. The steel bottle, a cup, a cup lid, and the stove will even fit perfectly in the military canteen cover. And I can hang the cup and/or the bottle over a fire using fish mouth spreaders. This was genius. I keep clinging to my military canteen cook set out of nostalgia but I've reached the conclusion that this is better because it's really the same thing, only modern. This also lightens the Orca bag I replaced the Pathfinder bag with considerably. All that remains in it is one cup, one lid, the alcohol burner, and the pot stand. I can even load a stove and fuel into the Stanley, and it slides in perfectly, along with an Esbit stove and cup sit, and still have a large pocket for all sorts of goodies. But if I'm by myself, I just don't need it all, so the Stanley, the gas and gas stove stay home. It's simply what I need least. I don't much like gas, anyway. It's bad for the environment, it hisses, and I'm simply not in a hurry in the woods. I like slow and easy. But I have a BUNCH of gas stoves, and even stoves that need three types of cannisters, and three kinds of gas. I have no idea why. Anyway, Stanley has actually fallen to fourth, maybe fifth, in a way, at least when I'm alone because there are so many ways to use the Pathfinder gears than I can make at least three full kits from all the parts, and they all work better for me than the Stanley.

I've found that the pot nests even better in a Toaks 750ml ti pot, which I use to heat water, pour into the Stanley pot for whatever I'm making, and heat more water for a drink. First thing I did was get rid of that plastic tab and replace it with a key ring. That way I can use the container over a camp fire too if desired. I plan on making a bail for mine when I get a chance.
