I bought one of the originals 10 or 12 years ago and love it. I bought an MTM plastic ammo box, made a T shaped divider for it out of some 3/16 inch plywood and the cookset, an old Coleman 502 stove, a 16 ounce can of fuel for the stove, a funnel, lighter and some other odds and ends fit in that ammo box perfectly. It's great for car camping.

The void between the Walmart cup and the pot may be able to hold a small round tin.. such and an old Altoids tin.. or small empty shoe polish tin etc... Which could hold coffee grounds!... Or fire starter pads . A bic lighter and bandana could fit as well... Let us know if any of these will work! Make wise use of that extra space! Excellent review!

Great review comparison. The STANLEY 2 Cup cookset is LEGENDARY. THE new one is nice too, I have several of the older ones and 2 of the updated ones. If you like a cup with a sip style lid... there's an Ozark Trail lid (sold separately) that fits that cup and is the correct size exactly 💯. The YETI cup lid also fits. One is a sliding style opening and the other is a flip style opening. Both fit perfectly. It's important that you get the correct ounces size when buying the lids, there are several sizes and not all sizes fit... mines packed away in my Conversion Van but I believe it's the 16oz that fits. Walmart carries both so take your STANLEY and compare sizes for the correct ones. I keep mine in my Tornado 🌪 GoBag for Evacuations. I ADORE STANLEY 💗. I've collected them for decades and I'm a life-long Outdoors adventurer.

Old version is 24 oz, new is 32 oz. The cups are rated for 10 oz, but the new is maybe 0.5 oz larger capacity. Love the new design, especially that Nalgene bottles nest nicely.
@pierreanelli5 ай бұрын
Something others haven't mentioned that I have seen, the gen 2 lid does not fit the Ozark trail or GSI nesting cup, it is too big. I found a Coughlan's 21oz nesting cup that nests completely with the cook pot leaving no void space and the gen 2 lid fits perfectly. Also, the 40oz Klean Kanteen does nest in the cook pot. Just wanted to spread the word.

One thing people were complaining about is that the lid no longer fits snug, but I think that is a plus, used to have to grab the handle on the old pot and give it a strong tug, which could cause spillage and with a hot pot, but now they come off easily

I like to make "center fire" alcohol stoves for the old narrow Stanley Pot, ...thats a stove that fires from a center hole and not around the edges like a Trangia, think like a WD40 can with the center nozzle removed and with 8 x 8mm holes drilled around close to the bottom of the "dome" for air intake holes but the stove fires from the center unless the pot is too close then it will fire from the airholes instead, so keep the pot 1.25" from the output enter fire hole. This stove also does not need a pressure chamber so its simple stove without the sleeve insert .

I am looking forward to picking up the new pot. I love the 24 oz but I use an MSR Pocket Rocket and you have to center the Adventure almost perfectly on the three supports or it will tip. The little bit of extra width of the Wildfare should make a big difference. The new pot is currently "Unavailable" on the Stanley web site. It looks like the entire Adventure series has been, or is being, replaced with the Wildfare series.

I’ve had my Stanley for over a decade, I still use it on treks with alcohol stoves and homemade stoves out of used tin cans which can also burn solid fuel tans or twigs, but it gets used as my kettle several times a day as it works on my induction hob. Can’t see a reason to change it as it fulfills all my needs.
@TNBushcrafter5 ай бұрын
I've been wondering for over a decade when they were gonna come out with a 2.0 version. My biggest complaint was the bottom rounded edges. It just doesnt sit well on some certain stoves. I understand it makes it easier to clean the bottom inside corners. Although it just makes it so hard to sit with any amount of stability on many stoves. I've hacked mine to death and I believe it's as about as perfect as I can get it for my purposes.

This one, I really appreciate the 32oz capacity, but the handle is still... complicated. But as a bushpot, this works, My short range brew kit fits in the largest round tin you can get at the dollar store, and that already fits inside the $5 and GSI cups. So.. it will work with this. Depending on your pack, this might be a great update, but I really wish they had put butterfly handles on this.

@ThePreparedWanderer6 ай бұрын
It’s that a standard bottle will fit it.
@brawndothethirstmutilator98486 ай бұрын
@ThePreparedWanderer, I find this to be a pointless change because the handle folds up in an awkward way unless you remove it each time for storage. This cook set still doesn’t properly nest a Nalgene inside of it. If they intentionally redesigned to nest a Nalgene, it’s a fail (and I’m not convinced that they did redesign with this purpose in mind mainly for this reason).
@dalevodden13596 ай бұрын
The only thing about having a nalgene bottle in those is you cannot close the handle if you get the nail Gene bottle in there you can't close the handle you can't pack it away in the pouch you had it in not unless you remove the handle
