Played this at my uncle's funeral 2 days ago. He loved The Verve and saw them live in Wigan in 1998. We were torn on what song to pick but I was having a look through his CDs last week and found this song as a single, and the choice was made. The tears were flowing when it came on but it was a beautiful moment. Until we meet again Martin. 1974-2022 💙

I remember going back to South Africa after 3 years living in Manchester, a friend I met in Manchester came to visit me in SA in 2003, he was a massive Verve fan and could actually sing just like Richard Ashcroft, we went on a 7 hour drive from Johannesbuurg to the Natal coast, I put this cd on and he sat in the back seat of the car and sang every song like he was actually on stage, best drive ever!

@nordmannenfrank6066 It's worth remembering that there was a 'Golden Age Of Rap' between the late eighties/early nineties. A Tribe Called Quest, The Jungle Brothers, and De La Soul were acts that used jazz to get their erudite messages across, which involved a refreshing self deprecatory attitude!

So this song just closed out the latest episode of ONE DAY, a show on Netflix that I cannot pull myself away from despite my best efforts. I’m suddenly torn back to 1997, remembering just how intensely this album resonated with me during those late 90’s years. Beautiful, soul-touching music. To the members of the Verve, thank you. Your music was there when i needed to know I wasn’t alone in this terrible melancholy.

That's a nice story.. there's something amazing about sharing the songs you love with your children. All I need to do is play a song maybe three times, tell a story about the song or the singer and my daughters are hooked🙂. It brings me comfort to know that all these songs I lived for are now loved by my little girls, and that they form an unbreakable connection between us that will remain long after I'm gone.

5 years ago I found the Verve from their most famous songs. Years laters I still love their music. I've grown bored of many songs I started to like as the years passed by, but for some reasons, I could never leave theirs. They just have this little bit of surreal feeling that can transport me to another world. Such an amazing music. Whenever I listen to it I can create things. Ahhh I just wanted to express how much I love it really

My friend and me Looking through her red box of memories Faded I'm sure But love seems to stick in her veins you know Yes, there's love if you want it Don't sound like no sonnet, my lord Yes, there's love if you want it Don't sound like no sonnet, my lord My lord Why can't you see That nature has its way of warning me Eyes open wide Looking at the heavens with a tear in my eye Yes, there's love if you want it Don't sound like no sonnet, my lord Yes, there's love if you want it Don't sound like no sonnet, my lord My lord Sinking faster than a boat without a hull My lord Dreaming about the day when I can see you there My side By my side Here we go again and my head is gone, my lord I stop to say hello 'Cause I think you should know, by now By now By now By now By now By now Oh, by now Oh, by now Oh, by now Oh, by now Oh, by now Oh, by now Oh, by now Oh, by now

This song makes me relive my whole life in 4 minutes, the memories, the regrets, the moments, the feelings, the laughs, the childhood, the people I love, the people I’ve lost, the love, the nostalgia, somehow it makes me happy and sad at the same time. This song will grow old with me, that I’m sure. My soul song ❤

Yeah there was some magic or some kind of atmosphere in the air during those times probably. If this was released today they probably wouldn’t be as successful unfortunately. We are all entranced by quick dopamine hits of media. Everything is a blur and we can’t tell if anything is real or fake anymore.

Lived in Scotland for 4 years. There my mate Dan introduced me to The Verve. We went and saw them in Glasgow when they got back together for that year. Back in South Africa Today 20 years later I'm sitting here receiving my last chemo and the all clear. Still listening to them. Just glad that in the end, the drugs did work.

I had a similiar situation. Without drugs though. I fell in love with a girl with a abusive boyfriend. She had feelings for me too. I told her to leave him and come to me. If he comes after her or me, I'll deal with him. Everything went good. He did come after us. But I protected her. After a while he stopped because he understood that he couldn't get past me. I protected her, I cared for her, I treated her like a fucking princess, I pleasured her. But yeah. Seems like this isn't enough for a girl. A year later we broke up. Atleast she got rid of that ex of hers. I'm happy for that. I just feel so used.

Here in Texas when your girlfriend has an abusive ex boyfriend he tends to not last too long if he doesn't go far, far away. If a woman you love has never split, you haven't lived the worst part of life. I'm probably old enough to be your grandfather and I can attest it is a necessary experience.

I hear you, man. Very similar situation to mine. We didn't go out with each other, but I was successful in pulling her away from him. Although, I saw her about two weeks ago and she had a big bruise on her arm. When I asked her what it was and how she got it she changed the subject really fast and then started becoming paranoid of me. She apologized a few days later, but still never answered my question.
