Richard Ashcroft fulfilled his life purpose. He created a timeless song
@robbiestewart893 жыл бұрын
Actually, it was The Rolling Stones who created a timeless song. All Richard Ashcroft did was sample it and add his new lyrics on top of it. Eventhough, both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have now given all royalties to the song back to Richard Ashcroft as of this videos upload date of May 2019, they still deserve to recognized for writing the music to it.

A fair tribute to Richard Ashcroft and The Verve, even more with the return and recognition as the original the original author of this iconic song. Justice takes time but arrives!
@robbiestewart893 жыл бұрын
But the fact still remains that The Rolling Stones wrote the music to it back in 1967 as such, they are the original authors of the music. All Richard Ashcroft did was write new lyrics over top of their original and it became a hit. Eventhough, both Keith Richards and Mick Jagger have chosen to make things right in this instance by giving back all the royalties earned from it, Mr. Ashcroft should still give them what was originally agreed upon in exchange for the use of the sample. The credit should read as "Includes sample taken from "The Last Time" by The Rolling Stones, written by Mick Jagger & Keith Richards. Courtesy of Abkco Records. Used by premission." This is what the record labels usually do in the liner notes, when their artist uses a sample in a song. Instead of what happened and what Allen Klein did by suing. It was Allen Klein who handled this all wrong.
@Sleepflowrr2 жыл бұрын
And it was Ashcroft alone who got the royalties back, not The Verve, the rest of the band survives as other bands who almost made it with a couple of songs, the rest of the albums are still very indie so only old fans or real rock, britpop or shoegaze fans know, in the "worst" scenario the rest of the band are just common people like you and me.

Well, I've never prayed but tonight I'm on my knees, yeah I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singin' to me now No change, I can change I can change, I can change But I'm here in my mold I am here in my mold And I'm a million different people From one day to the next I can't change my mold No, no, no, no, no (Have you ever been down?) I can't change, oh, no I can't change, oh 'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, that's life Tryna make ends meet, tryna find somebody then you die I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah You know I can change, I can change I can change, I can change But I'm here in my mold I am here in my mold And I'm a million different people From one day to the next I can't change my mold No, no, no, no, no I can't change my mold No, no, no, no, no, I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no It's just sex and violence, melody and silence It's just sex and violence, melody and silence I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down Been down Ever been down Ever been down Ever been down Ever been down Have you ever been down? It’s kind of weird to choose such a heartbreaking song about loneliness and struggle and have it played by so many people in a stadium. It becomes monumental and transformative. What an amazing, life affirming spectacle!

I agree, but when it came out in -97 I think that a whole lot more people than me thought "This is me". So I think It's a very good choice! And to see how much those people love playing the song... Wonderful ❤️

To all the people in Italy, please take care of one another during this time of need. The world is praying for you.... We love you and we are with you.
Cause it's a bittersweet symphony this life Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to the money then you die. I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah. No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change, but I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold. But I'm a million different people from one day to the next I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no Well I never pray, But tonight I'm on my knees, yeah. I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah. I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now. But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singing to me now. No change,…

@deanmarcley31125 ай бұрын
@@rhyswilliams4893 Haha. What a liar you are. The melody DOES NOT COME from The Rolling Stones. It comes from a sample taken from an orchestal version of The Last Time of Andrew Loog Oldham. And secondly, the song The Last Time by the Rolling Stones is a rip-off of a tune from The Staple Singers.
