I actually really love the episode “not so slow coaches”. We know the entire time that there is no chance Thomas can catch up to Kaitlyn, but the fact he doesn’t even question it, and just charges smoke box 1st, to save his coaches without a second thought, really shows how much he cares about them deep down

Knowing that the SiF team (Sam Wilkinson specifically) chose the episodes that were on this DVD, and that a majority of them are from Nitrogen, methinks Sam chose those in favor of classic ones just to spite the fans Imagine if he went the extra mile and included 'Up, Up and Away' and 'Wonky Whistle'

It would make sense, unfortunately. I mean, how can you have a 'best of' compilation without an episode from Seasons 2 and 5 (two of the best Seasons)? Sinful. Also, no episodes from Season 7 and the HIT model era? I mean, I'm not a fan of them, but I respect that they're still part of the show's history and also should have been represented in some way. I think he would have had a riot on his hands if he'd included Wonky Whistle and Up Up and Away.

Honestly if I were to do this DVD I would have it include One Episode from each season: Season 1: Thomas and Gordon Season 2: Thomas comes to breakfast Season 3: Escape Season 4: Grandpuff and Sleeping Beauty (Since season 20 wasn't around at the time I'll just have these two together) Season 5: Rusty and the Boulder Season 6: Thomas The Jet Engine Season 7: Hooray for Thomas Season 8: Thomas to the Rescue Season 9: Respect for Gordon Season 10: It's Good to be Gordon Season 11: Gordon and the Mechanic Season 12: Best Friends (because final model series episode) Season 13: Creaky Cranky (because first CGI episode) Season 14: James in the Dark Season 15: Edward the Hero Season 16: Happy Birthday Sir Season 17: No Snow for Thomas Season 18: Old Reliable Edward Season 19: Lost Property

There were literally fewer model episodes and a lot more CGI episodes. To me, that’s very bad as most of them are Miller episodes and are literally the same as each other. And it’s also kinda weird we don’t get any HiT era which is weird since this was made by the same company and would always push HiT era episodes on a special release, whether good or bad ones. I would’ve accepted both since we really lacked model episodes on this release.

I actually have my own choices for a better release, one episode each from the 21 seasons of the show. These would also use the original masters for the first 6 seasons, as well as the new music from Season 7. These include: 1. The Flying Kipper 2. A Close Shave 3. Escape 4. Gallant Old Engine 5. Duncan Gets Spooked 6. Thomas the Jet Engine 7. Salty’s Stormy Tale (New Music) 8. Halloween 9. Flour Power 10. Fearless Freddie 11. Hector the Horrid 12. James Works It Out 13. Snow Tracks 14. Jitters and Japes 15. Stop That Bus! 16. Percy and the Calliope 17. The Switch 18. Duck and the Slip Coaches 19. Toad and the Whale 20. Buckled Tracks and Bumpy Trucks 21. Confused Coaches What do you think of that?

Should’ve expected 1st Class Stories to be featured honestly, it’s shit tbh. Should’ve been called, “1st Ass Stories”. To an extent, even The Greatest Stories (for the 65th anniversary), did a bit better. Stories like Thomas & Gordon, Edward & Gordon (because it was the 1st RWS story) Ghost Train, Cranky Bugs, Henry & The Elephant, I can see why those work. Almost nothing from 1st Ass Stories works

Note: Sam wilkinson did not consult any of the nitrogen era episodes. He joined as consult in season 17. So don’t blame him for any of the episodes chosen from seasons 13-16. Yeah we could have gotten some better episodes but it was 2015. We only had 2 Brenner seasons and no one ever remembered the hit era In 2015 but they could have pulled in way more classic episodes and not make almost half the release nitrogen era.

Yeah, I’m not really big on this one, chief. Imo They should’ve added more model series episodes and cut some of the nitrogen episodes as there are too much CGI episodes. Like I would add on a few episodes and cut some episodes out, for example: S1: I would add Edward and Gordon S2: Edward’s Exploit or Ghost Train/Wooly Bear (a two episode arc would be interesting) S3: Henry’s Forest and All at Sea (Escape would stay, I would possibly add Thomas, Percy, and the Post Train, maybe) S4: The Duke arc, and possibly Fish (Gallant Old Engine can stay) S5: Rusty and the Boulder and Duncan gets Spooked (I would possibly add Toby’s Discovery too) S6: No Sleep for Cranky (Jet Engine stays) S7: Gordon and Spencer and Hooray for Thomas (Now, even though the HiT era has a lot of stinkers, there were some gems, so I wouldn’t ignore it entirely so…) S8: Halloween and Squeak Rattle and Roll (I would possibly add Thomas to the Rescue) S9: Respect for Gordon and Percy and the Oil Painting S10: It’s Good to be Gordon and James the Second Best S11: Gordon and the Engineer and Dream On S12: Gordon Takes a Shortcut (I’m not gonna do the Nitrogen and Arc productions episodes since REBProductions has the right ideas for CGI episodes but for S16, I would possibly add Don’t Bother Victor (as it’s the narrow gauge episode) and this video would have two discs but that would be my treatment and it helps give some of the important characters a chance to shine. Feel free to agree or disagree with me, this is all my opinion.

I own this DVD myself. I even think this release is bad because the five classic episodes tricked me to think it'll be great. The nine Nitrogen episodes were awful choices. Six Arc episodes is just about enough. I think these should be the 20 episodes on this release. One episode from each season. Thomas and Gordon Duck Takes Charge Thomas, Percy and the Dragon Thomas and the Special Letter Lady Hatt's Birthday Party Thomas the Jet Engine Three Cheers for Thomas Edward the Great Respect for Gordon Percy and the Funfair Dirty Work (S11) Rosie's Funfair Special Tickled Pink Henry's Health and Safety Edward the Hero Don't Bother Victor Bill Or Ben? I would say that the 6 Brenner Episodes are a pretty mixed bag, the 5 classic era episodes on point, and the 9 Miller episodes were… well, Miller Era…. However, I don’t understand the fan service argument for Duck & The Slip Coaches. The Emily & Duck bits were just funny jokes, made me laugh 10 years ago, and still make me laugh. Besides, it’s an episode focusing on real life railway practices and historical information on railways in Britain. They so didn’t have to go out of their way to do all of that research for the Slip Coaches, characters who barely got any merchandise whatsoever. Besides, it was only for Series 17 & 18 that the GWR was mentioned by Duck, which is fine by me considering he hadn’t had main roles In episodes since S6. Steamie Stafford is pretty meh though. Quite a few of the Series 17 episodes feel like Miller Era ones, except they were given a chance to be somewhat alright. Had Steamie Stafford in Series 16, I feel as if it would’ve been far worse with the lack-luster narration and irritable rhyming dialouge. I’d have to give this release 3 or 4/10, and that’s being generous. The Miller Episodes & Steamie Stafford really weigh down this release, the Brenner Episodes included aren’t even the best ones from S17 or S18. It’s like you had 6-7 fairly strong good episodes, and then the other 13-14 episodes range from “yeah, that was alright” to “Oh good grief, when will this end?”. What a terrible release for the 70th Anniversary. They really should’ve just picked an episode from each season, and then one from Jack & Pack so they could have a rounded 20. That would’ve made for a much more enjoyable release.

This is what they should've done. Since there's 20 episodes, do this: Have S1-S7 with 1 episode from each of those seasons. S8-12 1 episode from each of them That's 12. Then, 4 nitrogen and Brenner episodes. THAT'S SO MUCH BETTER! 😠 😡

The nitrogen animation is in that bad I just want to watch a bad animation of HIT entertainment go watch CGI fireman Sam I'm not saying the animation is perfect there are some animation errors in the nitrogen era but the animation for the most part is pretty solid
