*Achtung!* 2:19 Meant to say that the Moon would spiral below Earth's Roche limit, breaking into a ring of debris, most of which will fall on the Earth's surface. *Danke für Ihre Aufmerksamkeit*

@eddiegaltek
@eddiegaltek 7 жыл бұрын
The Earth's rotation is being slowed due to title forces (the oceans interaction with the Moon) this loss of angular momentum is passed to the Moon causing it's orbital distance to increase. This will continue until the Earth's day length is equal to the Moon's orbit.

At what distance would Earth and the Moon be tidally locked? Would that even be a stable orbit?

Sciencephile the AI we're losing the Moon. it's getting father away all the time. Earths rotation causes the ocean to drag across the bottom which cause us to lose the Moon. can't remember. think it's a few inches a year. this is basic. entertaining animation and jokes though

Actually he made it a whole lot less depressing than these timelines usually are, once he talked about how Boltzman brains can emerge and the whole universe could re-emerge again due to quantum fluctuations and the fact that the 2nd law of thermodynamics is really just a statistical rule. Usually they just end it with the decay of everything and just say that's it, nothing will ever happen again.

It may be my natural human brain, but something about the fact that quantum fluctuations could cause another universe to form is so much more comforting than to think that literally everything would permanently cease to exist in the Dark Era. Shit, maybe in the vast ocean of possibilities a version of our world but with no shitty conflicts will pop into existence.
@doctor7752

Well perhaps I can rid you of that comfort. Imagine an altzheimer's patient watching the same movie over and over and over again, not remembering the previous iteration. To a time traveler, that is indistinguishable from simply going back and watching a man without altzheimer's watch it once and then die at the end, and then just going back multiple times to observe him watch it again. In other words, it's fake continued existence, and how is that any different than actual death in any important way?

It doesn't make me feel insignificant or full of dread whatsoever. It makes everything meaningful. On these enormous timescales, even a billion years is not a blink of an eye. So, no moment is more important than any other, since they're all nothing in comparison to these timescales, let alone eternity. Plus, if the universe does go on this long, then IMO it makes anything plausible. Suddenly, God feels like a live possibility to me.

Please let like because it's an idea so that all of us can see- At 4:35 No there is one, we all forgot gravity of all the objects in the universe. Manipulation of quantum fluctuations (now for this idk how can this one give a civilization of 3rd type an energy but if this is 120% legit in energy convection, then they will try whatever the cost might be.) Take dark energy out once accidentally or really with intensions discovered it to contact distant objects for more gravity and use dark energy for some kind of energy maybe. Many hypothetical ideas may generate from these basic ones and I didn't touch Alot of them anyway like E=MC^2 stuff Alot of talk.... Thanks for reading great person!

5:20 Nah true void doesn't exist in any universe because whenever you go, you'll always find something such as space dimensions, time or gravity, etc, they're all considered "things". Meanwhile, the true void isn't a thing. In fact, It is a fundamental concept that cannot be replicated or simulated by anything since it is not like anything in existence as it is considered a pure zero and a pure infinity at the same time. It is also not defined by any kind sub-logic (physics) but rather an abstract logic that can only be accessed through math or philosophy. It is also considered the root of all realities and basically the origin of everything since *in a true void, there aren't any sub-logic/physics-laws to restrict anything from happening, thus everything happens or anything could happen in it.* Which is part of the reason why it cannot be replicated nor simulated.

@SirChubbyBunny
@SirChubbyBunny 7 жыл бұрын
Fuck yeah. My own two cents with how we'll go out: 1) Disease: While there's a chance we bring about our own doom by making a super bug, there's a good chance that we'll run out of antibiotics and viruses will evolve at rate that's too rapid for us to keep up with. We're bound to have another epidemic that would make the Spanish Flu or Black Death look like a common cold within the next 100 years or so. 2) War: With tensions rising in several nations that are armed to the teeth with nuclear weapons, it will be a miracle if we can avoid another world war for the next century. If something does happen, I imagine it turning out like the movie The Day After, which was inspired by an event during the Cold War when we almost went to war with Russia over a faulty computer glitch. The story is pretty intense, and was a focal point in a five part Nat Geo documentary about the 80s. 3) Environmental Catastrophe: While it's unlikely it will happen in the next 100 years, given the next 500-1000 years, it's more plausible that we'll wipe ourselves out due to global warming, pollution, and the like; with the rate of animals being added to the endangered species list being an indicator of this. Our trash will outlive us as a species, if that helps put things into perspective--and we've found garbage at the bottom of deep ocean trenches. 4) Uncontrollable Acts of Nature: If we manage to survive the next millennium (I doubt it), and the last three are off the table, then we'll kick it in style in the form of something like a massive meteor strike (bringing about the next Ice Age) or a gamma ray burst. If the former happens, a good 25% of the ozone layer could be destroyed--bringing about mass extinction and famine in the process.

Something that always hurts my brain is negative infinity. Infinity going forward in time is already impossible to comprehend, but now try to comprehend it going backwards in time. Think about the fact that There was never at all a time where just empty space didn’t exist. No matter how far back in time you go it will have always been there which really throws people off because we think everything has to have a beginning. That fact that something has always been there really blows my mind
