The Hawaiian language is easy to pronounce once you get used to it. You just pronounce each letter and the "i" is pronounced like the letter "e" is said if it is at the end of a word. And "W's" that are not at the beginning of the word are pronounced as "v". So Hawaii (or spelled correctly, Hawai'i) is actually pronounce Ha-vai-'ee, Ewa is pronounce Eva, but Waipahu is pronounced Why-e-Pa-Who (which is often shortened to Why-Pa-Who) and so on.

I really like what you're doing here because most people don't care enough or are not interested enough in history, culture, religion, or anthropology to find out these things. When I was younger and something like this caught my interest, I would take a day or two and go through a few libraries, encyclopedias, and the internet, learning anything I could on the subject. I'm glad that I'm not the only one, and I'm glad that there are people gifted enough to make these sort of videos. Most young people think that if it can't be made into a TikTok it's not worth knowing.

Walt Disney was a smart business man in the right time he basically took myths fairy tales and children’s books and brought them to the silver screen and created a company that continues to manage to keep up with the times. That being said I love your videos and how you take the children’s version and brake down the real stories of ware they come from

Hey, thought you might be interested in one of the more modern tales of Pele where she can be kind. Two guys were out drinking down at the beach and were driving back to town. The saw an old lady walking along the side of the road who was looking for a ride. They said, "Aunty, come come, we give you a ride!" The old woman got in, "You good boys, yeah. Thank you. You got one cigarette?" "Yeah, aunty. Here." They gave her a cigarette but when the guy started to look foe the lighter the old woman stopped them. "Don't worry, boys." She then pressed the cigarette to her palm that was now glowing bright red and lit the cigarette. The two guys saw that and were scared sober. They drove the old lady back to town and took here to a firestation and told her that the firefighter could call her a cab. The two guys took off home. The next day they went to the firestation and asked what haplened with the old lady. The firefighter looked at them and asked, "what old aunty. Last night the two of you pulled up and were babbling and pointing at me then took off. There wasn’t an old aunty with you." The drive from the beach have a lot of narrow roads that passes over some cliffs over the ocean. If Pele hadn't shocked them sober they might have died.

Hey Jon! 2 things: The Aina in Aloha Aina is pronounced like “eye-nah” There is an old Micronesian legend that has similarities to Maui and Te Fiti’s story. Like in the movie, in the Micronesian island state of Kosrae, there is an island that is shaped like a sleeping lady. The legend goes that a “Maui-like” trickster from the Marshall Islands visited Kosrae and became smitten with a local girl from there. No matter what he did, he couldn’t get her reciprocate his feelings. So, he resorted to tricks and magic to basically force her to fall in love with him. Because of the magic the girl fell for the trickster like a lovesick puppy and followed him everywhere and ofc the trickster got bored. So he decided that he’s going to leave the island and ditch the girl. She begged him to go with him but he used more tricks to get her to agree to stay. When the trickster left the girl’s heart was so broken she vowed to lay down to rest and said “I will lay here and wait for your return.” Hence the island shaped like a lady sleeping.

Dude, I sure hope the "safe space" jargon was mandated by the script from your sponsor, because, if not, I have serious concerns about you. 'Safe space" -- LMFAO!! 🤣🤣🤣
@JonSoloАй бұрын
Lol my bad. I guess the term "safe space" has been commandeered by the ultra-sensitive who think the entire world needs to be their safe space, but it's been awhile since I've heard it used like that. I mean it strictly in the definitional sense. You don't need a Safe Space™ but I think everyone should have a space that is safe to explore their emotions. For some that space takes the form of a friend or therapist, for others its a rage room, and the ultra-stoic just have to retreat within. Hope that clears it up.

Jon Solo: I HAVE A DISNEY CONSPIRACY THEORY -Ok, so this theory is about Dumbo. I feel that Dumbo is an African Elephant, and that is why his ears are so large. I mean, he is in the circus, and it's obvious that all the elephants are Asian Elephants. Dumbo's Mom's name is Mrs Jumbo. We don't see Mr Jumbo, so, he may be an African Elephant. Also, the amount of real life racism between Asians and Blacks is also depicted in this movie. So, I always thought that Dumbo was an African Elephant, and that's why his ears are so big, it's just "over exaggerated" What do you think?

Have seen Moana. It was ok, not as good as I was hoping for, not as bad as I feared I might be. But it was a repurposed TV series so eh. Learning about the real lore didn’t affect me at all because I read widely and movies are always diferent from the books they came from, and real myth can get pretty wild. Take a look at How to Train Your Dragon for a good example. In the book, Toothless is small enough to ride on Hiccup’s shoulder.

1:18 I just Wana point out that the show absolutely did not paint maui's "help" as kind gestures and did make very clear his motivations(especially when Moana meets him for the first time and he ensures his titles are properly spoken" along with the narcissistic 'your welcome' song following

35:13 - Thumbs up just for that courageous line. Why do hollyweird writers always do this...when making a sequel, they always poop on the original concept and make the whole journey in the 1st film worth nothing so that they can make a 2nd story. The while heroes journey Moana went on in the 1st film was to get rid of the curse on the land...so a 2nd movie tacking back on another or still cursed island gives me a headache...same with the Sequel Trilogy in SW, same with this new sequel to Gladiator, same with some much junk they write now a days. I live in Hawaii, so I will definitely see Moana 2, but I hope it is not junk.
