This was one of my top 3 favorite episodes from this new season. Maybe one of my favorites out of all the seasons. It was absolutely stunning, from the story to the visuals. When Martha asks the machine its purpose and it says "to know you" I get chills. It's comforting, almost. And it resonates with me on a level I can't really explain except to say I think the whole episode is so meaningful. The idea of dying but not; becoming a part of something bigger. Leaving your physical body but somehow preserving what makes you...you. I can't believe this episode is one of the lowest-rated ones on IMDB for season 3. I found it to be truly beautiful.

The amount of details and scientific accuracy this film needs to put in to create this alien world as accurate as possible... elusive, creative yet largely comforms to how IO would really looks like (sulphur floodplains, sulphur spire/volcano, blue molten sulphur lakes, sulphur flakes drifting, sulphur crystal, etc.. and Jupiter as the background... only thing i think is less accurate could be the gravity.

10:04 fun fact: romanticism is super popular in danish history discussions and teachings, since hc anderson, among other famous danish artists, is from that period. it focused heavily on youth, innocence, nature, god and a connection to the natural. therefore, farmers are often depicted in danish romantic art pieces since they have deep connection to plants and nature. depictions of god were often done by having churches in the background, breaking up the flat landscape that a normal danish painting would suffer from.
@elchinpirbabayev57578 ай бұрын
Farmers by definition have limited respect for plants which they grow and harvest (kill), gardeners maybe more connected, still their connection should also be limited. For farmers plants are primarily food, wood and renewable resources.. So Danish romantic school maybe seeing a connection where it doesn't necessarily exist. It's like imagining connection between butchers and cows, though I don't rule it out either.
@SStupendous8 ай бұрын
@@elchinpirbabayev5757A gardener has strong connotations of loving and caring for flora. A farmer respects the crop that provides him with food, and the means of making a living, the crop he, or she, puts long dedication and a nto supporting and cultivating. A butcher is given an animal, living or dead, or purchases it, then markets it to customers, butchering the meat and selling it. Couldn't be more different, cool though that you're so much smarter than everyone and couldn't see that.
@elchinpirbabayev57578 ай бұрын
@@SStupendous butchers dealing with live mammals must either lose the connection or develop a meta connection to the animals he.kills to keep their psyche under a sanity check.. That's about butchers who at least do their own killing. Sooner or later you start thinking about the effects the killings has on one's soul. Then you start developing bonds with the animals. Farmers on the other hand have stronger connection to the land and other elements (weather, sun, water etc) that provides crops, not necessarily crops themselves.

@elchinpirbabayev57577 ай бұрын
@@SStupendous Once we started to agree, I am going to push my luck a little further. The connection between farmers and crops was probably romanticized by city "intellectuals" who understand only the food produce, and have never followed a plough dragged by the horse, never collected fruits and have no fucking clue of the sheer labour that goes in.

The way I look at it, is that she actually died by end of it. She did say it's better to die while on dr*gs and that's what the dr*gs did to her mind. So she died being heavily dr*gd. It was also her brain fighting till the last moment to keep her alive and you know how they say life flashes before you eyes when you're dying. I think this whole process was her mind talking to her through hallucinations, trying hard till the last moment to keep her alive. This whole magical world was a product of her last moments and dr*gs combined, we just got see her last moment through her eyes, instead of what actually happened.

Morphine doesn't make you hallucinate. Neither does a single injection of amphetamine.

Some people react that way to iv morphine. Apparently my grandpa started hallucinating when he was given morphine after one of his surgeries. I wouldn’t know about amphetamine, but I’ve heard that morphine story so many times over the years that I have third hand anecdotal evidence 😂 (although I’m sure it wouldn’t be that hard to find medical documentation of people having that reaction to morphine).
