The more you sit back and 'absorb', the more dangerous you become. He doesn't take the miniscule thing and blows it up for no reason, he assumes the intent to be negative and that's why he spikes you - which is sometimes wrong as he himself admitted - something that is understandable when you spend your whole life getting back handed compliments.
@axg5929

@@DarkForceUbz this is something i'll admit that i really struggle with. i've had some fucked up friendships and i pay super close attention to the smallest things and of course most of it is negative although there are plenty of positive things if i look at it from a broader perspective
@DarkForceUbz
@DarkForceUbz Жыл бұрын
You shouldn't struggle with it and you'll learn with time, when you realize that said negativity is only the truth - assuming you also notice the good things.The more you know, the more true the statement "ignorance is bliss" becomes.@@axg5929 I bet we have similiar ideas regarding the system / society. Just be humble and accept changes in things you realize are not totally accurate and you'll be good imo. In a social way, it's weird to pay that much attention to relationships. In a human way, it's expectable. I've recently started to differentiate shxt for what their natural / human meaning is, and what the social / systematic adaptation is. That helped me a lot distinguish and treat shxt for what it is and made it easier for me to distinguish right from wrong according to my morals. Love!

About 20 years ago I was with 25 friends in a room and we saw him perform in this tiny comedy club before he got famous. We were the only ones in the room. I only realized it was him years later. Anyway 2 of our friends, a couple, got too drunk and started talking loudly to each other while he was doing his set. He LIT INTO them, so savagely and so hilariously that everyone laughed like we were going to die. I don't think he knew that the whole room knew each other. To this day I still remember some of the jokes he told because they were so funny and so true.

I only discovered Burr a year ago. A real phenomenon. Educated, articulate, and with a reassuring smile that cuts through anything rough he might say. Like George Carlin and Billy Connolly, there’s a genuinely communicative human being underneath the purple language. My take-away is the thing he has in common with British humour: When you get insulted by a Brit, it often means you have standing and merit affection. Hard for non-Brits to understand, I know, but it’s the insulter's face that tells the real story. Far too many people are experts in being offended these days, but it’s best just to take the punches from a genius like this - his face shows his true intention, which is to make you laugh and to laugh with you.

I've followed Bill's career for a long time. If you really want to know why he is the way he is then look up what the cellar table was. There are plenty of stories about comics genuinely avoiding that table in the comedy cellar where a certain group of comics would sit and roast the hell out of each other to the point of some walking out genuinely upset. It toughened comics up but it can also have the opposite effect of causing a normally easygoing fun loving person into an aggressive overly guarded person at times. In today's comedy climate it's become obsolete with everyone encouraged to be supportive and he's one of the few of that group still working, says yes to as many podcasts as he can to keep in touch with today's comedy audience as well as bringing his large audience to comedy newcomers. You need to remember this was a kid who grew up in the 70's where you HAD to be tougher and talking to someone younger, more sensitive will occasionally provoke someone older to dish out some tough love like he got. I have no doubt most of today's comedians would not have lasted being roasted nearly nightly by comics like Patrice O Neal, Jim Norton, Rich Vos, Colin Quinn and many more and would have walked out feeling like they were bullied. That culture has basically gone and I'm not saying that's a good or a bad thing but you can see the damage it's done to Bill on the very rare occasion where he gets exasperated by a younger comedians question
@vlogily8043

But he usually makes it funny even if he’s upset, somehow he’s offensive but it’s still funny, there’s some irony and sarcasm behind it, it’s still passive aggressive to full on aggressive but it’s humorous so its unclear if he’s really upset by things or just pretending to be, he’s very quick witted and like Theo said very brash, it’s astounding he hasn’t gotten cancelled outright or has had a major scandal against him, I’m sorta waiting to see if he do some type of turn I won’t like as a lot of comedians have that I once laughed at and agreed with to some degree
