Mình sẽ nói thêm một số điều cho Max biết thêm. Vì mình là người Cà Mau. Ở Sài Gòn có món bánh Tầm, nó dạng như một loại bánh ngọt, được làm từ khoai mì, ăn chơi hay ăn vặt. Còn Bánh Tầm Cà Mau có 2 loại, một loại là Bánh Tầm Cay như Max đã ăn, nước sốt nó làm gần giống cari. Thường ăn với Gà, Vịt hay xíu mại. Còn một loại là Bánh Tầm Xíu Mại, nước sốt của nó như là sốt cà chua, thường được ăn cùng với xíu mại. Các loại sốt thường được làm hơi sệt (có thể là bỏ bột năng). Điều đặc biệt của Bánh Tầm Cà Mau là ở sợi bánh tầm, mình không biết nó thực sự được làm từ nguyên liệu gì, nhưng nó khác hoàn toàn với tất cả các loại sợi bún khác, khác với sợi bún bò, khác với sợi bún riêu, khác với sợi phở... Nhưng nó vừa có độ dai, độ dẻo, độ giòn. Nói chung là rất đặc biệt. Vì sự đặc biệt của nó nên ở SG những ai biết làm sợi bánh Tầm mới mở được quán bán Bánh Tầm Cà Mau. Nên ở các tỉnh thành khác khá ít quán Bánh Tầm Cà Mau hoặc gần như không có vì công thức sợi bánh của nó lạ. Người Cà Mau đi xa về quê gần như không thể không đi ăn Bánh Tầm Cà Mau cho đỡ thèm. Tiếng Việt của Max rất tốt, nhất là phần phát âm, có lẽ Max học thêm nhiều từ vựng nữa là ổn lắm rồi. Chúc Max có một chuyến đi vui vẻ và an toàn. Hy vọng Max sẽ cảm thấy hạnh phúc khi ở Việt Nam. Hi everyone! For English speakers watching this video, I cannot overstate how much those banh mi ladies just adooore Max haha!! My parents are both Vietnamese and I was born and grew up in Canada so I'm a native speaker of both languages. My writing of Vietnamese is almost non-existent though; but I just wanted to point out something lovely about this video! Because of the dual language subtitles we are literally seeing that language barrier disappear, it really does remove a lot of cultural assumptions and biases that one may have watching a travel video while only knowing one of the languages and shows with great example how kind, friendly and supportive most of people that we encounter are. Conversational nuances are sometimes difficult to translate directly. It's only off a little bit by omission of some minor words or changes in phrases, therefore native English speakers may not quite get the full affect of the cute vocabulary that was expressed by those ladies. Translations between languages can never be perfect of course, but really amazing work nonetheless! I'm sure Max or whoever is doing the subtitle work is more than skilled enough to do it, I know that I would not be able do such difficult work (my casual speaking from Vietnamese to English and vice/versa is very good, but my reading/writing Viet is terrible lol) This isn't a slight or negative against Max or his channel at all, I just wanted to emphasize out how absolutely ADORABLE those ladies are that may have been missed through translation, although you could probably just tell from how they are in the video! In fact the translations are what I think makes Max's channel so popular among the native Vietnamese audience because they can understand what Max is saying in English when they watch his videos! I think his channel is the best for this so both English and Vietnamese speakers have a mutual love for his videos. Your Vietnamese is very very good Max! Thank you, and keep going! Cheers. (and hopefully someone can translate this into Vietnamese haha!)

It's been 3 years since I left Vietnam, and believe it or not, there's not a single day that I don't miss the places. Watching how you drive under the rain reminds me of the time a group of friends and myself wandering Saigon after a school day, it rained cats and dogs, but we still kept those smiles on our faces throughout the trip. Last summer, I went back to Vietnam and guess what? Those memories gave us goosebumps whenever we discussed about them. I really appreciate you, Max. Keep on the fantastic work!

Yes, there’re plenty of “bánh mì xíu mại” in Canada, if you live in big cities like Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, etc. May be the Vietnamese population is very small at the place where you live. I’ve been living in Calgary for almost 45 years, Vietnamese food is very popular, especially bánh mì with all kinds of varieties, including bánh mì xíu mại!

Another popular place for Ba Kia and Bun Nuoc Leo. It was my second time back to Vietnam. I was going back to see where my parents & grandparents grew up. One of the best trips ever. My mother’s hometown is in Mekong Delta, which is in Tien Giang. As I know the “banh tam” is differently cooked in different places in each province. I’ve never tried “banh tam cay” before, and “banh tam” in Tien Giang is just completely different and unique. We can’t deny the diversity in Vietnamese cuisine 🥰 hope you”ll have a safe road trip

OMG I've always wanted to recommend Bánh Tằm Cay to you but I know they don't have it in Sài Gòn and even if they do, it doesn't taste the same. I'm from Cà Mau too and although I'm a veggie now, Bánh Tằm Cay is still the first to pop up in my mind every time someone asks me about "đặc sản Cà Mau". Not "cua Cà Mau", it must be "bánh tằm cay".
