The golden rule is people that happy, fulfilled in their life personally and sexually are too busy enjoying rather than focusing on the private affairs of other tax pay citizens. Military Appreciation Month is a designated period in May to recognize and honor the contributions, sacrifices, and achievements of the United States Armed Forces, both past and present. This month-long observance includes several specific days and events dedicated to different aspects of military service. Established by Congress in 1999, Military Appreciation Month aims to encourage Americans to express their gratitude to service members and their families. Key Dates and Observances Loyalty Day (May 1): A day to reaffirm loyalty to the United States and recognize the heritage of American freedom. Public Service Recognition Week (First full week of May): A week dedicated to honoring the men and women who serve as federal, state, county, and local government employees. Victory in Europe (VE) Day (May 8): Commemorates the end of World War II in Europe, marking the Allied victory over Nazi Germany in 1945. Military Spouse Appreciation Day (Friday before Mother's Day): Recognizes the significant contributions and sacrifices of military spouses who support their service members and families. Armed Forces Day (Third Saturday in May): Celebrates all branches of the U.S. military, honoring those currently serving in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Memorial Day (Last Monday in May): A solemn day of remembrance for those who have died in military service to the United States, marked by ceremonies and the decoration of graves. Furthermore, the Veterans Administration, commonly referred to as the VA, is a federal agency in the United States that provides comprehensive healthcare, benefits, and services to military veterans and their families. Established to fulfill the nation's obligation to support those who have served in the armed forces, the VA plays a critical role in ensuring that veterans receive the care and support they need. Healthcare Services: Veterans Health Administration (VHA): Provides medical care through a network of VA hospitals, outpatient clinics, community living centers, and domiciliaries. Services include primary care, specialty care, mental health services, telehealth, and rehabilitation. Medical Research: The VHA is involved in extensive medical research and development programs, contributing to advancements in medical science and veteran care. Benefits and Compensation: Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA): Manages a variety of programs, including disability compensation, pensions, education and training (e.g., the GI Bill), vocational rehabilitation and employment, home loan guaranty, life insurance, and survivor benefits. Burial and Memorial Services: National Cemetery Administration (NCA): Provides burial benefits, including internment in national cemeteries, headstones and markers, Presidential Memorial Certificates, and perpetual care for gravesites. The NCA operates and maintains national cemeteries across the country. Key Programs Disability Compensation: Monthly benefits for veterans with disabilities incurred or aggravated during active military service. Education Benefits: Programs like the Post-9/11 GI Bill, which provides financial support for education and housing to veterans and their families. Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E): Services to help veterans with service-connected disabilities prepare for, find, and maintain suitable employment. VA Home Loan Guaranty: Helps veterans, service members, and eligible surviving spouses become homeowners by providing a home loan guaranty benefit and other housing-related programs. *In other words, veterans get healthcare services, benefits, and compensation **_everyday of the year_** along with a secretary cabinet position in the President's Cabinet.*

I’m 68 years old and I’ve never understood why a month (for Pride - of any kind: race, sexuality, respect, you name it) needs to be celebrated and people educated for, theoretically, for such a short time. Shouldn’t Pride be everyday for everyone? Personally, I’ve never needed anyone, outside of my parents, to instill pride in who I am and to appreciate other people - be they any color or sexual preference. I do, however, understand the need and opportunity to educate the world on our differences - and what makes us all the same.
@RaymondHng3 ай бұрын
A full month allows for a wide range of activities, including parades, festivals, educational workshops, film festival screenings, panel discussions, and community gatherings. This variety helps cater to different interests and aspects of the LGBTQ+ experience. It provides time to highlight and celebrate the diverse identities within the LGBTQ+ community, Including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and other identities. A month-long celebration helps to raise awareness about the issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community, such as discrimination, violence, and legal challenges. It provides ample time for educational programs, workshops, and events that inform the public about LGBTQ+ history, culture, and rights. Extending the celebration over a month fosters a sense of community, solidarity, and support among LGBTQ+ individuals and allies. Prolonged visibility helps challenge stereotypes, reduce stigma, and promote acceptance and understanding within the broader society. Organizing large-scale events like parades, festivals, and conferences requires significant time and coordination. A month allows organizers to schedule these events without overlapping, ensuring maximum participation. Since Pride is celebrated worldwide, a month allows different regions and cities to host their events at various times, accommodating local schedules and climates. A full month allows for the celebration of LGBTQ+ art, music, literature, and culture, showcasing contributions from the community to the broader cultural landscape. It provides the opportunity to explore and celebrate the intersection of LGBTQ+ identities with other aspects of identity, such as race, gender, and religion. A month provides a sustained period for advocacy efforts, including campaigns for legal reforms and policy changes. It allows for ongoing engagement with policymakers, businesses, and the general public to promote equality and inclusion.

The black and brown colors on the new Pride flag, often referred to as the "Progress Pride Flag," were added to the traditional rainbow flag to emphasize inclusivity and to specifically recognize and honor the experiences of LGBTQ+ people of color. In 2017, the city of Philadelphia introduced a new version of the rainbow flag that included black and brown stripes. These stripes were added above the original six colors to highlight the need for greater inclusion and representation of LGBTQ+ people of color, who often face unique challenges and marginalization within both the broader society and the LGBTQ+ community itself. The Progress Pride Flag places the black and brown stripes, along with the light blue, pink, and white stripes, in a chevron (arrow) shape on the left side of the flag. This design points to the right, symbolizing forward movement and progress, while the traditional six rainbow colors remain as horizontal stripes to the right of the chevron. Symbolism Black and Brown Stripes: Represent LGBTQ+ people of color and emphasize the need to address issues of racism, discrimination, and intersectionality within the LGBTQ+ community. Light Blue, Pink, and White Stripes: These colors come from the transgender pride flag, designed by Monica Helms, and represent transgender individuals and the broader trans community. Chevron Shape: The arrow pointing to the right signifies progress and the ongoing journey towards equality and inclusivity for all members of the LGBTQ+ community.
