The inspirational true story of Moondog, the legendary musician and New York icon whose life was an unexpected, outrageous adventure.
Charlie Parker and Benny Goodman hung out with him. Philip Glass lived with him, Janis Joplin covered his music, Allen Ginsberg stuck it on his fridge, Diane Arbus took his picture and Andy Warhol's mother designed one of his album covers. Merv Griffin interviewed him, Phillip Starck named a building after him, Ravi Shankar appeared in a movie with him and top fashion designers have created entire collections around his look. In the '60's he was a counterculture idol; today he's celebrated by the likes of Antony and the Johnson, The Kronos Quartet and The Mighty Boosh and his ongoing influence can be seen in the work of everyone from Bjork to Philippe Starck.

Moondog self title album was how i heard of his music in 1969. Like to have Golden Fleece played as my final wish.

I remember hearing his music when I was 10-12. Even then it got inside me and just stayed there, haunting and joyous, simple and deeply complex. Music and lyrics like that stays in you. Moving to the city at age 12 I use to see him often and say hello. He was an impossible figure standing there amongst the mortals.

I'm so excited watching this film about this great man and musician. I stumbled in the library across "The German Years" album and was very impressed by such an outstanding bio in the comprehensive booklet. And about the outstanding music too.
