The Viking Raid on Lindisfarne (793 AD)

A year of great hunger and prophecies of fiery dragons, the year 793 brought havoc to the people of Northumbria. On the 8th June, heathen warriors from Scandinavia attack the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, killing many of the monks there and looting sacred treasures. The attack would send shockwaves through the Christian world and usher in the Viking era to the British Isles.
