1 minute 40 seconds into the track, and oh wow. The power, the voices and the memories of seeing this film. Thank you for posting

When the music stopped, I said to myself , "What a piece of music." It is so moving. Kirk would be so proud. Thank you for the hours of enjoyment your orchestra and the chorus have given me. ♡♡

When I was 12 years old my family was coming back from Hawaii on the Lurelene ship and I saw this movie with my dad on the ship. 65 years later I can still remember the Viking boat drifting to sea and the Vikings shooting flaming arrows into it for the Viking funeral procession. This music has stayed with me through all these years!

Do you hear that? It's the sound of Kirk, Janet, Tony and Ernie's immortality.

The Vikings was my first movie score LP I ever bought while at school. Some years ago I bought the CD of it but this new score is a must.. Looking forward to it..

A great score to a great movie. Mario Nascimbene is one of the most overlooked and neglected film composers of all time. I hope the public will one day be reintroduced to his fine scores for this, Barabbas, One Million Years BC, and When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth.
@michaelmcdonagh5104 Жыл бұрын
Yes. His score for Richard Fleischer's Barabbas uses the "Dies Irae" plainchant throughout. The film is easily one of the best and most moving "treatments " of the Jesus story, with exceptional performances, design, and cinematography.

I don’t know, man, I can taste it, bit of a pine spear through my upper left abdomen, taste of pine, sap and iron. I hear this song, and I smell and taste that. Kind of strange, but that metallic thick smell in the freshness from the pine. There was a dampness on the field.

Wished that Kirk Douglas funeral was a viking one where they lay his dead body on a viking boat with sails, cast it from the pier in southern california and burn it from arrows shot by real vikings and this music playing at the same time. This is so stirring and haunting to my mind to hear this one.

Narrator: The Vikings, in Europe of the 8th and 9th century, were dedicated to a pagan god of war, Odin. Trapped by the confines of their barren ice-bound northlands, they exploited their skill as shipbuilders to spread a reign of terror, then unequaled in violence and brutality in all the records of history. Narrator: The greatest wish of every Viking was to die, sword in hand, and enter Valhalla, where a hero's welcome awaited them from the god Odin. Narrator: When the Vikings set forth to rob and plunder England, they never sailed out of sight of land. They confined their attacks to swift, overnight raids. It was not an accident that the English Book of Prayer contained this sentence: "Protect us, oh Lord, from the wrath of the Northmen."

I have very little viking in me due to my German ancestry; 1/16th from what i was told by my cousin that took a DNA sample and believe my viking heritage from my German heritage goes way back into the 8th or 9th century.

Wonderful, marvellous! The recording and performances are as usual very high like in all the other tadlowmusic productions! My wish list for future new recordings would be: Solomon & Sheba (Nascimbene) The Wizard of Oz (Arlen/Harburg/Stothart) Walt Disney's Snow White & the seven Dwarfs (Churchill/Smith/Harline) Hope all three of them will come true
