This score does so much to encompass the wonder and mystery of space, and it succeeds a hundred times over!! This score is so good that it could have been used in the film, "Interstellar." Not taking anything away from Hans Zimmer, but this piece of music is too awesome for words. RIP Mr. John Barry. You are greatly missed, sir.

I watched Skyfall again tonight and one thing I thought of when it had ended was "man, I really miss John Barry". One of my all time favourite film composers. He was so epic. As cheesy as some people think Moonraker was, I actually think it's such a fun, entertaining film and Mr Barry's score elevates it to another level.

John Barry is easily one of the top 5 greatest film composers of all time. I would personally put him in the top 3, in fact. Only a genius like Barry could take the most silly and outlandish Bond plot and have the scenes still bring me to tears because of how beautiful and profound the music in them is.

I've always noticed, and I've seen no-one else comment on it (forgive me if you have and I missed it...), but the movie has an additional 15 seconds of music that starts at 5:29 that is not in the commercially released track. It's a great 15 seconds too!
@WeAtG179 ай бұрын
This recording isn't the film version - the soundtrack CD/LP programme was re-recorded by Barry after the film was scored. There are noticeable differences in several key cues, particularly 'Corinne Put Down', where the film version has a much greater focus on the piano as opposed to the soundtrack album. Fingers crossed we'll get the full film versions released one day!

Very epic song. This 6 minutes contains little standalone masterpieces bound together by the main theme. There is something gentleness and harmony in the accords. It is free from overkilled fanfares compared to other hyped space themes. In some cases I think the fanfares are actually there for hiding lack of creative ideas . And Mr Barry did not need fanfares and overthriumphing motives.

As an impatient 14 yo space fan ( in 1979 awaiting the STS program to get underway), I remember going to see this with my friends & being AWESTRUCK watching these later scenes in the movie. Definitely wouldn't have been the same without Barry's AWESOME score!!

Dispite Moonraker being a rediculous film in my eye, this piece is always my light at the end of the tunnel. If you turned on the television and saw the scene where this music is played, you would think you were watching the lost third Space Odyssey movie... and then Roger reappears and you're like, "Ha!"
@Tommykey073 жыл бұрын
Buried in Moonraker is a really good science fiction movie if it wasn't a campy Bond flick. When you have uber wealthy people like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk with aspirations to expand into space, the idea of a rich industrialist building a space station and using it aa a means to exercise dominion over the Earth isn't so far fetched anymore.

2.14....goosebumps. Just don't get that nowadays even from Zimmer.
@TheInflicted4 жыл бұрын
@@jmack8767 The problem with Zimmer is that the music he and his trainees produce is very frequently synthesized with prerecorded orchestral sounds. The old Barry soundtracks are true performances, and often recorded so quickly and with so few takes that you can hear the mistakes by the performers. There's so much more humanity and warmth in the old music.
