In reality viking women ran the show! A viking woman could divorce a man for failing. Failing at providing and failing in the bedroom. Viking woman had the power. They kept the home while the men were away fighting. They worked the land and harvested the crops, made the decisions, which made them highly valued! In the real world, the women would be throwing the axes!

For those that doubt the logic of Odin’s test, may l remind you that back in the day, the test for whether a woman was a witch was to throw her, bound, into deep water. If she drowned she was innocent. If she floated, she was a witch and would be executed.
@drfunkalicious85014 жыл бұрын
Though it feels odd replying on a year old comment, one commenting on an old and extremely inaccurate movie (which can be still fun to watch). But this statement is widespread and wrong. Don’t get me wrong it’s a foolish test. But the authority figure that tossed the “witch” into water would also have said witch partially bound and the end of the rope in workers hands. When or if they sank they were pulled out by the rope and declared fine. After further deliberation. It’s possible that even this aspect is untrue or corrected more with new archaeological evidence. But they did not let them drown.

The logic I hear in this video tells me that the Vikings would have never understood the logic of the AND or the OR or the XOR or the BINARY logic that makes all the logical functions in a computer. The logic within, "If he hits, her then she is guilty and if he severs the plaits or braids then she is not guilty!!" needs a better and a very long proof, while ," If he misses three times then we drown him, well that seems to be more logical according to what is fair in life, for a stupid person who accepts the trial of his wife by the axe method!"
@drfunkalicious85014 жыл бұрын
They most surely would be quite idiotic. Thankfully for them this is a movie. Since no records among the tales, legends, accounts, Eddas, poetry, etc of this happening exist. Not in the culture of the tribes of Northern Europe, the saxons, Finns, the rus, and the dozens of Germanic tribes.
