It's such a beautiful and upsetting place to visit..it is stunning how ever there families at rest. It should be given back already

NOT abandoned. The locals were told, because it was so close to the sea, their village was needed by the army during the war. They were told they could return after the war but they were never allowed back.Complete annihilation of a small fishing community.Lied to by the establishment and their homes stolen.... utterly dispicable and now the national trust own it! Disgraceful

Amazing story. Sad for the villagers that they were scattered elsewhere. Top quality I say research has been thorough. 👍♥️

Thinking about it, Christmas was cancelled for the inhabitants of Tyneham in 1943. Bit like the South’s after the Tier 4 announcement today!

I am so angry for these people. If someone forced people to do this today, it wouldn’t have ended well.

Well if they'd lost the war they'd have no home anyways.

@@tommo6090 there’s no excuse for not letting them return after the war was won. I’d be livid if some government forced me out of my home , how dare they. They’d have another war on their hands if they did that now

Knowing UK they would have been given only token compensation. That was typical then and not much better now. Nice video.

Fascinated to see this example of forcing people to do the wrong thing.....just like now....

This abandoned village is one of my favorite places I’ve visited in my travels to Great Britain. So surprised by the abandoned beauty full of unique war history.

Sadly this sort of thing is all to common in Britain, if you wrote two pages on every village where the residents have been forced to leave their homes, you would end up with a book bigger than the bible. These evictions are usually based on a whim by their overlord i.e. these people treated the English public much worse than anything they ever did to the Scots, Irish or commonwealth citizens.
